The Bachelor franchise introduced a unique twist in September 2023 with the premiere of The Golden Bachelor. While the show followed the familiar premise of a lead choosing from a group of contestants, this spinoff focused on seniors getting a second chance at finding love. Gerry Turner served as the show’s first-ever lead and ultimately married contestant Theresa Nist. However, their marriage ended in April 2024, just three months after tying the knot.
The following year, Bachelor Nation fans met Joan Vassos, who became the first-ever lead on The Golden Bachelorette. Joan was set on finding love again, and did so with contestant Chock Chapple. However, unlike Gerry and Theresa, the couple are deciding to take things slow. Still, fans are wondering if this reality TV couple may be moving too slowly, as they continue to delay both their wedding plans and moving in together.
The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos And Chock Chapple Are Still Happily Together
The Couple Shared A Four-Month Check-In With Fans
The Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple, are giving fans hope that love can be found on reality TV. While the Bachelor franchise is not quite known for lasting relationships, these two are making sure to take things one step at a time after their engagement in September 2024.
Fans should not be worried about another Bachelor Nation couple splitting because Joan and Chock are going strong. In late March, the reality TV lead updated fans about her love life with Chock on Instagram.
“People always doubt if we’re still together, and here we are. We’re still together, and we’re better than ever.”
Chock added that people have been skeptical about their relationship as they have not necessarily been updating fans. However, he wanted fans to be rest assured that they are a solid couple. “If we don’t post, people will go, ‘What’s going on?’ We don’t have to post every day. But we just wanted to let you guys know everything’s going great,” he shared in the Instagram video.
Since the finale of Joan’s The Golden Bachelorette, she and Chock have been super-busy with Bachelor-related obligations, work, and meeting each other’s families, including one another’s children. In the Instagram video, the couple also admitted that they also got a chance to get to know each other without the cameras. Joan joked that when she went to see Chock in his room after they got engaged, he asked her, “So, tell me about yourself.”
Joan Vassos is a school administrator in Maryland, while Chock Chapple is an insurance executive and the president of Insurance Services Group, LLC in Kansas.
The couple were also seen attending The Bachelor Season 29’s Grant Ellis’ After the Final Rose special. They sat in the audience, with Joan sitting alongside The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner, with whom Joan dated when she appeared in his season as a contestant. Taking a photo sitting in between Gerry and Chock, she captioned the image on Instagram:
“When your fiancé meets the first guy you dated on national television… #thegoldenbachelor #thegoldenbachelorette.”
Where Do Joan And Chock Currently Live?
Joan And Chock Continue To Live Separately
Joan and Chock still do not live together, which has caused some concern for fans. The Golden lead continues to reside in Maryland, while Chock still calls Kansas home, which is where the duo lived before they appeared on the show. During an appearance on the I Do Part 2 podcast, Joan shared, “People see this as a negative, I think it’s actually really fun.”
Joan continued, “I think it’s hugely positive for us right now. We get to have all of these really cool experiences together. I could see one day, maybe next year, the year after, five years from now, I’d be like, ‘Oh, it’d be nice to have you around, cook dinners together, live a more normal life,’ but right now, this is really fun and I’m not looking to change it.'”
Joan has four kids from her first marriage, while Chock has two kids from a previous marriage.
However, the couple did share that they were looking for a place to rent in New York City together. In January, Chock shared with the Dear Shandy podcast that it’s been a struggle to find the perfect place.
“We want to make sure that we’re in the right area. Renting is challenging in the city, but it is what it is. We’re trying. If I look at SoHo right now, there might be four places at the most, and probably one that fits our criteria with the number of bedrooms and what we’re looking for,” he said.
Still, the couple make plenty of time for one another and visit each other often. Speaking to E! News, they shared that they try not to go more than two weeks without seeing one another.
“We’re pretty conscious about making sure things are scheduled, and we look pretty far down the road,” Joan said. “So a lot of things have been happening kind of organically. We have opportunities that people are flying us to places, or we’re flying to places to do things for opportunities that we’ve gotten because of the show. So that has spurred on a lot of the travel, and a lot of us being together, and a lot of the fun that we actually got to have.”
Have Joan And Chock Set A Wedding Date?
Fans Shouldn’t Expect A Wedding From Joan And Chock Anytime Soon
With Joan and Chock still not living with one another and still getting to really know one another, fans shouldn’t expect wedding bells any time soon. They did not want to rush into things, especially after The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry and Theresa Nist did not have the fairytale ending they hoped for. The pair had a televised wedding in January 2024, but decided to divorce just three months later.
Now that Joan and Chock are continuing a relationship without cameras, they can take things slow, which includes getting to really know each other’s children and even, possibly, finding out where they can call home.

When asked about any wedding updates, Joan told the Rogue Energy podcast in February, “What I want right now is to just be a couple. We have only been out in public for less than three months, so we’re still doing stuff that, like, beginning couples are doing [like] introducing each other to our friends. He only knows a few of my friends.”
However, Chock surprised fans by hinting that the wedding might take place later this year or sometime next year. Answering a fan’s question on Instagram about their future wedding, he said:
“Somebody today at lunch said, ’25?’ and I said, ‘Maybe at the end of ’25 or ’26.’ We’re having a lot of fun together just getting to know each other.”
