Next Gen: NYC’s Ariana Biermann was in the hot seat during an episode of Watch What Happens Live after she was asked questions about her mom (The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kim Zolciak’s) alleged gambling addiction. The mother of six has been in the press lately about her legal issues after filing for divorce from former NFL player Kroy Biermann.
After appearing on RHOA throughout her childhood, Ariana finally gets to share her own story and life on Bravo’s latest hit, Next Gen: NYC. The series follows former and current The Real Housewives kids and their friends as they navigate New York City to start their young lives.
Ariana Biermann Refused To Talk About Kim Zolciak’s Alleged Gambling Addiction
On a June 2025 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen did what he does best and questioned Ariana Biermann about her experiences on Next Gen: NYC, RHOA, and what’s going on with her mom, Kim Zolciak’s, divorce from Kroy Biermann.
Ariana answered most questions truthfully, but when it came to a question about her mom’s alleged gambling addiction, the transparent conversation took a turn.
“There were rumors about your mom’s gambling. Anything you can say there?”
In response, Ariana shook her head and said, “No. Talk to him about that.” Instead of pushing for more answers, Andy moved on to the next question.
Kroy Told Police Officers In 2023 That Kim Had A Gambling Issue
In July 2023, Page Six reported that Kroy claimed that Kim gambled more than $1.5 million. “The total in the marriage was about $1.5 million dollars. She does it online illegally,” he told police officers at the time. The former NFL player continued, “It’s probably been going on for pretty much our entire marriage and it’s gotten significantly worse.”
Although the couple have spent the majority of their relationship in the spotlight (reality TV shows and in a public sports arena), Kroy claimed she blew through their savings on gambling.
Ariana Told Viewers That Her Parents Spent All Of Her Money
In the opening episode of Next Gen: NYC, Ariana told the cameras that her parents spent all of the money she made from doing social media brand deals and reality TV. According to Page Six, she stated that she “found out that it was gone two years ago” and that her savings were gone.
- She’s unsure where her money went.
- She’s unsure of the exact amount of money they took.
Ariana told Andy on WWHL that she doesn’t want to know how much money her parents took from her, because money shouldn’t break a family. She also included that her mom still borrows money from her.
“The only time my mom asks me for money is if it’s regarding the bills or it’s something that she needs for the kids.”
Unlike in the past, Kim pays Ariana back when she can.
The Ins And Outs Of Kim Zolciak’s Messy Divorce
Ariana Biermann and her family have been in front of reality TV cameras since The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s first season. After Kim left as a main Housewife in Season 4, Bravo cameras kept rolling for their own reality show, Don’t be Tardy.

While the family appeared to be living affluent lives, Kim and Kroy Biermann were actually struggling financially. Years later, their rumored financial struggles broke apart their marriage.
E! News reported that in April 2023, Kroy legally filed for divorce. Two months later, the case was dismissed, and the pair tried reconciling. The reconciliation didn’t last long, however. The two filed for divorce yet again with a long list of complaints towards the other person.
- While Kroy alluded that Kim had an issue with gambling, the documents stated that Kim requested to have Kroy drug tested. She alleged that Kroy had been “smoking marijuana, and she has serious concerns for the safety and well-being.”
- US Weekly reported that Kim called the police after alleging that Kroy “threw her to the ground” in front of their kids.
- In 2025, Kim and Kroy lost their Georgia mansion in a foreclosure and had to be removed from the property.
Ariana Biermann Supports Her Mom
After two years of he-said, she-said, Ariana Biermann gave US Weekly an update on how her mom was doing throughout the divorce proceedings. “She just moved into a new house, and she’s really doing great,” Ariana explained to US Weekly. “I think it gets hard sometimes. It’s been a really long divorce — two-and-a-half f***ing years, and it’s still not even almost done. She’s my best friend in the world.”
After almost three years of ups and downs with Kroy during the divorce, Kim has finally started dating. Ariana explained that her mom is “thriving.” “She’s been with my stepdad for what? Thirteen, 14 years now? I’m just excited for her to just be a mom. I tell her, ‘It’s your first time in this world too, so I’ll be your mom sometimes when you need it.’”
Ariana continued, “[Kim’s] exploring her options, and she should. She’s out there, and she deserves it. Go have fun. I’m like, ‘Don’t get anything serious yet.’ I also tell her we’re in a totally different world than we once were [and] these people are f***ing crazy.”
While Ariana’s parents continue down a hard path in their divorce, Ariana’s young career is just starting. “I feel like it’s going to be really exciting to see kind of all of us [on Next Gen: NYC] come into our own as adults. When our moms were on Housewives, we were kids,” Ariana explained to the outlet. “A lot of the time, people still think I’m 12 years old. They’re like, ‘Why are you wearing a bikini? I’m like, ‘Girl, I’m 23, OK? I’m actually grown up now.’ So, I feel like it’s going to be a lot of fun to see all of our friendships blossom and see us navigate New York. At least for me, I’m new here.”
Next Gen NYC airs every Tuesday at 9/8c on Bravo.
