Ariana Grande appears to be making a significant career shift from her role as a pop sensation to focusing more on acting.
The star of “Wicked: For Good” has announced that her upcoming “Eternal Sunshine” tour in 2026 will serve as her final major musical event, at least for the foreseeable future. She shared these insights during a conversation with Amy Poehler on the latest episode of her “Good Hang” podcast, reflecting on what the next decade of her life might entail.
“It’s going to be beautiful, and I’m so grateful,” Grande expressed. “I think that’s why I’m doing it — it’s like ‘one last hurrah,’ for now,” she elaborated, speaking of the upcoming tour.
While Grande, 32, did not delve into specific details about the tour, she made it clear that this will be her last major tour as a pop artist for quite some time.
“I don’t want to make any definitive statements,” she added. “I do know I’m very excited about this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time.”
As for the rest of her future, Grande informed the “Saturday Night Live” alum that the previous decade of her life will be a far cry from what she’s got planned.
“I think the last 10 to 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up,” she said.
As she focused on her career trajectory, the singer noted that she feels “a lot more connected to myself and my art” since she started exploring opportunities outside of her music.
“I spent so much time only doing pop music — but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theater and comedy. So I think the thing that will be best for my soul and also my art and for what I’m giving to myself to, is if I’m chasing things that feel very right in the moment,” she said.
“Even if it’s mundane it needs to be something different. I am doing a movie right now because it’s a role that I read the script and I love it and it’s funny and I love the cast and I’m so excited,” Grande added.
In addition to her busy film slate, Grande was also recently announced to make her return to Ryan Murphy’s cinematic universe in “American Horror Story” Season 13.
She’s additionally set to star in Ben Stiller’s upcoming film, “Focker-In-Law.”
“Then I’m doing a small stint of shows next year because that is something that authentically sounded good to me,” the singer told Poehler on Tuesday.
“I think following those authentic impulses feels like a really good idea.”
Grande’s “Eternal Sunshine” tour will mark her return to the stage for the first time in six years following her “Sweetener” world tour in 2019.
