Fifteen years after their separation, Ashton Kutcher finds himself singing praises for his former wife, Demi Moore. The actor took a moment to commend Moore while promoting his latest venture, an FX series titled “The Beauty.”
During a discussion about the show, Kutcher was asked to draw parallels between his project and Moore’s critically lauded 2024 film, “The Substance.” Seizing the opportunity to celebrate Moore, he expressed, “Demi’s performance in ‘The Substance’ was nothing short of extraordinary. She received remarkable accolades, and I’m incredibly proud of her. She absolutely nailed it,” he shared with Entertainment Tonight.
Kutcher then shifted to a broader perspective, reflecting on societal trends. “We live in a time where cosmetic enhancements have become increasingly prevalent and accepted,” he noted. “Over the last two decades, it’s been fascinating, albeit strange, to watch this trend gain momentum.”
As for “The Beauty,” Kutcher takes on the role of a character who invents a drug that grants breathtaking beauty, albeit with deadly consequences. This intriguing premise not only highlights the allure of physical perfection but also echoes the complex themes explored in Moore’s acclaimed film.
In Ryan Murphy’s “The Beauty,” Kutcher plays the creator of a drug that makes people stunningly beautiful but has lethal side effects.
In “The Substance,” Moore plays an aging celebrity who uses a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself with unexpected side effects.
Moore won a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for her performance in the film.
Kutcher, 47, and Moore, 63, started dating in 2003 and tied the knot in September 2005. They split in 2011 after six years of marriage and their divorce was finalized in 2013.
A decade later, Kutcher admitted he was “f—king pissed” at Moore over her 2019 memoir, “Inside Out.” In her book, Moore said that she regretted the two threesomes she and the actor had, and also accused him of influencing her to break her sobriety of nearly 20 years.
“I’d finally gotten to a place where the press had really laid off me and [my wife] Mila [Kunis] and my life and my family,” Kutcher told Esquire.
“And then the next day, [the paparazzi] are at my kids’ school,” he continued, referring to daughter Wyatt, now 11, and son Dimitri, now 9.
Kutcher and Moore’s romance garnered plenty of attention due to their 15-year age gap. The actor also became a stepdad to Moore’s three children with her ex-husband Bruce Willis: Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31.
In 2023, Tallulah candidly shared that she had a tough time when her mother started dating the “That ’70s Show” alum.
“It was, like, 2003, [and] my mom had just started dating Ashton,” she recalled during her stint on the reality competition series “Stars on Mars.”
“It was that moment, a lot going on, and I really went inside of myself,” she continued. “That did send me into, like, a total dumpster fire. It was really hard, and I’m still unpacking.”
