BBC The Traitors star slams 'pointless' celebrity series - 'It makes me sick'

A contestant who appeared on The Traitors has called the celebrity version “pointless”. As a set of celebrities prepare to take on the ultimate game of deceit and deception, many have already voiced their opinion on the new series. During last week’s first episode, a major plot twist occurred as, instead of being taken to the Scottish castle, the cars took a detour, and the celebrities started the game by meeting Claudia Winkleman at a graveyard. All contestants were ordered to dig their own graves, where shields were hidden under the mud. This time, there’s more than just honour on the line: a £100,000 prize fund is up for grabs.

The ultimate winners, whether they emerge as Traitors or Faithfuls, will share this prize, choosing charities to receive the funds, which injects a heartfelt element into this otherwise intense competition.

However, one contestant who has been on the original series has slammed the celebrity version. Speaking to The Daily Star, Zack Davies has hit out, saying the series is “pointless”.

“I understand it’s meant for charity and just some light-hearted entertainment,” Davies remarked. “But it bothers me that something great is being altered with the inclusion of more famous faces.”

He continued, “What does it say about society that we constantly need celebrity editions? These celebrities don’t matter to me; it’s completely pointless.”

Express Online has contacted the BBC for comment.

Claudia Winkleman is hosting the hit psychological reality series once again. Celebrities battle it out to uncover secret saboteurs in a high-stakes game of lies and loyalty.

The lineup includes Traitors superfan Stephen Fry, Olympian Tom Daley, TV presenter Jonathan Ross, and Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway. Comedian Joe Wilkinson will also be in the Scottish castle alongside singer Paloma Faith and Former England rugby player Joe Marler.

Line of Duty star Mark Bonnar, presenter Clare Balding, and singer Cat Burns will also appear.

Celebrity Traitors resumes on Wednesday, October 15 on BBC One.
