Patrick Brammall, known for his role in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” has found himself at the center of a social media storm as his wife, actress Harriet Dyer, comes to his defense against critics. The sequel to the beloved 2006 film has sparked conversation, particularly surrounding Brammall’s character, Peter, who plays the romantic interest of Andy, portrayed by Anne Hathaway.
Despite the excitement surrounding the sequel, Peter has not been warmly embraced by audiences. Critics have slammed the character as unnecessary and lacking the depth or charm to match Andy’s vibrant persona. This backlash has drawn attention, especially after a Cosmopolitan magazine’s Instagram post described the sequel as “a near-perfect sequel being tainted by a pointless man.” The comment struck a chord with many fans who took to social media to express their agreement.
In response, Harriet Dyer didn’t hold back her frustration, taking to Instagram to address the criticism. She pointed fingers at the film’s editing, suggesting it played a significant role in shaping public perception of Brammall’s character. “Mean post. They cut scenes out. The edit is brutal,” Dyer commented, shedding light on the behind-the-scenes decisions that may have impacted how Peter’s character was portrayed.
This public defense by Dyer highlights the complexities of filmmaking, where numerous factors can influence how characters are received by audiences. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether future edits or insights will change fans’ perspectives on Peter and his place in the world of “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”

She also pointed out that the pics Cosmo used of Brammall and Hathaway smiling big and showing PDA on the streets of New York City were from a scene that was actually cut from the final film.
“I liked him,” she wrote of her husband. “And I married him.”
Brammall and Dyer tied the knot in March 2021, after dating since 2017. They adopted their daughter Joni in 2021, and welcomed daughter Mabel in February 2025.
In Cosmo’s article titled “Andy’s One-Dimensional Boyfriend Is an Insult to Single Women Everywhere” published last week, the writer blasts the character of Peter for being “as one-dimensional as they come” — but also pointed out that Brammall wasn’t to blame.
“No shade to Patrick, he was written that way,” the writer noted.
In the writer’s opinion, Andy shouldn’t have been in a relationship at all given the film is heavily about her career.
“Why, in 2026, are we still so scared of a woman who is proudly single and child-free?” they asked.
Andy’s boyfriend in the first film, Nate — played by Adrian Grenier — has also faced plenty of hate from fans over the years, with some calling him the true villain of the film for being unsupportive of Andy.
Page Six spoke to Grenier in March, who admitted he was “disappointed” that he wasn’t asked to be in the sequel.
“But I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it,” he told us.
Still, he held out hope that there’s more life for his character, adding, “But I think that just leaves room for a spinoff.”
