Anika Rashaun, known to viewers from MTV’s The Real World, has died at 34. Her friend Tiara Ramos confirmed the news in a moving Substack tribute, revealing that Rashaun had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer the previous summer. Ramos said the diagnosis came as a devastating surprise, particularly because Rashaun’s mother had battled breast cancer years earlier. Despite that family history, Rashaun was not considered high-risk or advised by doctors to make mammograms a priority—one of several painful failures Ramos said she encountered while navigating the healthcare system.
Ramos described life without her closest friend as strangely muted and disorienting. She said she still instinctively reaches for her phone, expecting to call or FaceTime Rashaun, before remembering that she is gone.
She also expressed deep sorrow for Rashaun’s husband, parents, loved ones and wider community, saying the loss had left her feeling angry, heartbroken and overwhelmed.
Rashaun publicly shared news of her cancer battle on social media in October 2025. Before her diagnosis, she had moved beyond television and built a new career as a matchmaker and dating coach.
News of her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, friends and former castmates. Rashaun appeared on MTV’s Real World Seattle: Bad Blood and later competed on The Challenge.

Theo King-Bradley, her Real World castmate, shared a photograph of Rashaun on Instagram while mourning her loss. He said he had kept himself busy to avoid confronting the reality that she was no longer alive and admitted he had been deeply upset since learning of her death.
King-Bradley added that he regretted not seeing Rashaun one final time, but found comfort in remembering their last conversation. Those memories, he wrote, would remain something he could replay whenever he needed a reason to smile.
Promising never to forget her, he said the photos and videos they shared would allow him to keep her memory close, signing off with an affectionate “Love you, Lil Mama.”
Fans have also filled the comments beneath some of Rashaun’s final Instagram posts with messages of remembrance. “Rest in Peace, QUEEN – we love you always,” one person wrote, while another simply shared, “My heart hurts.”
