Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are claimed to have been on icy terms in recent weeks, but a source exclusively tells In Touch that things are finally improving as they look to put their past marital drama behind them and spend some time together this summer for the sake of their kids.
“Let’s face it, Ben is never going to be as close with J. Lo as he is with Jennifer Garner, they don’t share three kids,” the source spills, referring to the former couple’s children Violet, 19, Seraphina “Fin”, 16, and Samuel, 13. “But they are both very sensitive to the fact that [J. Lo’s] twins Max and Emme are very close to Ben’s kids.”
Fin and 17-year-old Emme, one of the twins J. Lo, 55, shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, formed an “especially strong bond,” according to the source, and the Argo actor and the “On the Floor” singer have “agreed that they have a responsibility to nurture that” for the kids’ sake.
“If they can’t stand to be in the same room as each other it’s going to make that very tough, so they’ve agreed to do what it takes to get on better terms,” continues the source. “Before they got back together they were genuinely friends and they’d love to get back to that.”

“They’re not at a place where they’re going to be taking off on joint holidays with the kids, but they have talked about having a nice dinner all together to start with, and then they’ll go from there,” the source adds.
This comes amid swirling rumors that Ben, 52, is getting close with the mother of his children – who is in a relationship with boyfriend John Miller – again following his divorce from J. Lo three months ago. The pair coparent amicably, and recently, the Air star was spotted hugging the Elektra actress, 52, in early March while paintballing with their son, Samuel.
However, a source told The Post both Jen and J. Lo were not interested in getting back together with their shared ex.
“Ben’s an emotional roller-coaster. He’s even been reaching out to Jennifer [Lopez] again recently. The two Jennifers are actually friends,” the source explained. “They bonded over coparenting their kids. I don’t know why the press feels they have to pit women against each other.”

As In Touch previously reported, J. Lo filed for divorce from Ben on August 20, 2024, after two years of marriage. Their split was finalized in January 2025.
Ben broke his silence on the end of his second marriage in the April issue of GQ, noting that there hadn’t been a single “major fracture” that led to their decision to part ways.
“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he said at the time. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
