The 90-Day Fiancé franchise has introduced viewers to many people exploring long-distance love. One of those people is Ben Rathbun, whom fans got to know on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Unfortunately, he has now sadly passed away at the age of 55 after a battle with cancer.

Ben appeared on season five of the hit series in 2021 alongside Mahogany Roca. While on the show, Ben was 52 and met Mahogany, who was from South America, online.

However, she wouldn’t video chat with him. Many believed that she was catfishing him, so their story became heartwarming when he learned that this wasn’t the case after they met in real life. This is despite a few difficulties that arose when it came time to meet. The two went on to get married, and it seems they were happy up until his passing.

TMZ was one of the outlets that initially reported the news that Ben had passed away on the morning of May 19. He passed away at his home in Greencastle, Indiana, due to stage IV stomach cancer. He was diagnosed in late 2024 and had been battling the disease since. A source told the outlet that family surrounded Ben at the time of his death.

According to In Touch Weekly, Ben appeared on 90 Day Diaries in February 2024 to provide an update on his status with Mahogany. He said at the time, “Our civil ceremony was just brilliant, I could not believe how beautiful it was. But we are still planning on having a religious ceremony.”

However, he also expressed difficulties in their relationship, saying, “We’re just going through a really difficult transition. I’ve gone about six months without a really good job, and bills have been piling up, of course. Things are extremely tight now, and I’m doing everything I can right now to pay all the bills and for my next trip to Peru.”
