Beverley Mitchell got candid about her recent moments of self-doubt and body image issues while explaining her recent uptick in social media filters.
“Hey guys, you’ve probably noticed that a few of my videos have all had filters on it and I’m just going to be honest,” Mitchell, 44, said in an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, August 6. “Lately, I have not been feeling super great about myself.”
She revealed, “I’ve definitely been really hard on myself and just not feeling that I recognize my body. There’s a lot of things happening.”
The 7th Heaven alum noted she wasn’t posing the video to “get any kind of feedback or build up.” Instead, she wanted to “acknowledge” that sometimes people have “a hard time” and don’t feel “that comfortable in our own skin.”
Mitchell told her followers that “instead of just wallowing in that” mental state she has decided she’s “going to do something about it,” but has yet to decide what her plan of action will be. “I am going to start making changes so I can start feeling good about myself again,” she declared.
The actress gave a shout-out to anyone “who feels the same way,” telling them, “Just know that I see you, I hear you, I feel you and I am with you.”

She concluded: “If you’re interested, come along on my journey. It’s going to involve food, self-care, exercise and just making changes so I can get back to being me.”
Mitchell, who gained fame while playing teenager Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven, has been active on social media for years. While most of her content is family-focused or about her podcast, “Catching Up With the Camdens,” over the past few months, her Instagram videos have been more filtered.

In a few videos posted last month, Mitchell has a golden glow to her appearance and appears to have smoother skin than if it was unfiltered. Her bubbly personality, however, has remained a constant on the app. Her family photos also appear to be untouched.
Mitchell captioned her Wednesday video with a disclaimer, writing, “Decided to come clean and be super vulnerable. To all those who don’t feel themselves or are struggling in any way! I hear you!”
She told her followers that she has recently decided to “make some changes,” which she plans to share “because it’s time I take better care of myself!”
The mother of three added: “Sending love you anyone who feels themselves same #keepingitreal #nofilter #honest #vulnerable #raw.”
“All I see is a beautiful woman. 😍,” Alyssa Milano replied in the comments section.
Tiffani Thiessen also shared a positive message, writing, “I had this same feeling when I was 49 and I made massive changes for myself that I am so happy I did. Here for you lady! You can do it. Be kind and patient with yourself is what I can say. Mental health is just as important if not more than physical health. 💋💋.”
Mitchell’s former 7th Heaven costar David Gallagher sent her well wishes of his own. “I’ve started a self-care journey this year too!” he wrote in the comments section. “The journey is not to be dreaded but enjoyed! Love you Bev.”
