Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are fully embracing the Halloween spirit, even as Lively navigates a legal dispute with her former It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

Over the weekend, on October 18, Ryan Reynolds, known for his role in Deadpool, shared a selfie on his Instagram Story. The photo features his wife, Blake, standing beside a whimsical Halloween-themed balloon creation by Big Head Balloons.

This particular balloon design, a spider attached to a light pole in New York City, is part of a series crafted by the company. Big Head Balloons is celebrated for offering unique and entertaining balloon artistry for events and homes, as highlighted on their Instagram profile.

Reynolds expressed his admiration, stating, “This is a creation of the wonderful @bigheadballoons,” on a previous Instagram Story post from the same day. He humorously added, “Apologies to those who rushed to investigate insane screaming. I didn’t even know if it was me making the sound to begin with.”

Meanwhile, the public eye has been glued to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds due to the ongoing legal issues involving Justin Baldoni. A source confided to Us Weekly, “Blake is very stressed, upset, and just wants all of this to be done,” describing how the 37-year-old actress is handling the legal challenges.

He continued, “Also, gentle reminder about how full your hearts felt hearing the news how Ghost Spiders aren’t a real-life problem everyone has to just deal with. The paramedics said the ozone layer is healing. She said nobody talks about that either.”

In the selfie, Reynolds could be seen wearing a beige coat zipped over a soft yellow shirt and paired with black slacks. Lively, for her part, wore a heavier-looking tweed coat with her hair down in long, beach-ready waves.

The festive pic comes amid Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Baldoni. The very public back and forth began in December 2024, when the actress accused her It Ends With Us costar and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment and launching an alleged smear campaign against her. Baldoni vehemently denied the allegations and countersued Lively.

Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively was later dismissed by a judge. Lively’s lawsuit remains ongoing. It is scheduled for trial in March 2026.

On Friday, October 17, People reported that multiple stars of It Ends With Us were called in for depositions, including Lively’s costars Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrera, as well as book author Colleen Hoover, who wrote the hit novel that inspired the film.

According to the outlet, Hoover recently sat down for a deposition. Slate, who played the sister of Baldoni’s character, and Ferrer, who portrayed the younger version of Lively’s character, were reportedly deposed over the summer.

Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Slate, Ferrera and Hoover for comment.

When Lively first came forward with her allegations against Baldoni, Slate publicly supported her.

“As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation,” Slate shared in a statement to Today.com in December 2024. “Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.”

Hoover also publicly supported Lively after she filed the lawsuit against Baldoni.

“Blake Lively you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met,” Hoover wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of the pair. “Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.”

In July, Lively was deposed in New York City by Baldoni’s legal team as preparation was underway for their days in court. Us previously reported that Baldoni was present for the meeting.
