After eight long years, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finalized their divorce settlement on December 30. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted,” a lawyer for the Maleficent star, 49, said in a statement. “But she is relieved this one part is over.”

Brad seemingly had even more reason to be thrilled by finalizing the split: Since 2022, the Bullet Train actor, 61, has been in a serious relationship with jewelry  designer Ines de Ramon, and though he’d already been declared legally single in 2019, those close to the couple believed Brad  and his ladylove were waiting for the mess with Angie to be resolved to announce their engagement. However, plans have changed. “The wedding is on hold,” an insider exclusively reveals to In Touch. “The main reason is that she’s refusing to sign a prenup. Ines doesn’t want to totally sign away her rights. It’s become a touchy subject for both of them.”

While a rep for Brad denies the pair have been talking marriage at all, it’s understandable that he’d want to protect his estimated $400 million fortune if, as the insider asserts, they are considering making it official. He and Angelina actually had a prenup when they wed in 2014, but they still fought bitterly over custody of their six children and joint assets such as their French vineyard, Château Miraval (which they’re still warring over in court).

In the end, Angelina reportedly walked away from the divorce $84 million richer, auctioning off a Winston Churchill painting Brad had given her for $11.5 million alone. “Brad knows a prenup is necessary to move forward with Ines, but he isn’t in a place where he wants to deal with any more legal back-and-forth,” claims the insider. “At this point, it’s easier to sidestep it altogether and push the marriage dialogue off.”

HANGING OVER THEM

Ines, 32, is said to be frustrated with the situation, especially since she’s been a rock for Brad these past years. She’d even helped him try to repair his fractured relationship with his children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 — who largely sided with Angelina during their parents’ breakup. “Ines wants to marry Brad and start a family with him. Taking that next step without ensuring she will be protected isn’t all that appealing to her, though,” notes the insider. “While she understands Brad has been through the ringer with Angelina, it seems unfair she has to pay the price for how jaded he’s become.”

For now, says the insider, they’re in a holding pattern. “Brad has every intention of being with Ines long-term. His stance is that a marriage certificate isn’t what proves loyalty or devotion, it’s actions,” says the insider. “He has taken big steps with Ines: He moved her stuff into his properties and gave her the go-ahead to redecorate, which is massive considering how particular he is about design. He also talks very openly about wanting to have a child with Ines.”

But will that be enough for his partner? “If Brad were more naive, he’d be fine marrying Ines without a prenup, but he knows the odds are not in his favor,” says the insider of the two-time divorcé, who famously fell for Angie while wed to Jennifer Aniston, 55. “Even though his divorce with Angelina is now finally settled, it continues to hang over Brad’s new relationship.”
