The Valley Season 2 is off to an explosive start as main reality TV stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, now separated, find themselves in heated and highly emotional arguments. An explosive outburst by Jax ultimately sees him seeking professional help for his mental health in Episode 2.

Prior to leaving for a 30-day stay where he hopes to get the help he needs, Jax receives a visit from Brittany and their young son Cruz so he can see him one last time. However, the visit turns disastrous when Brittany learns that Jax had a woman over the night before. While the estranged couple had agreed they could see other people, Brittany had set one clear rule: no overnight guests in their once shared home.

The Tense Encounter Occurred In Season 2, Episode 2

The Valley Season 2, Episode 2 continued to highlight the tumultuous relationship between now-separated Bravo couple Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright. Things have taken a turn for the worse, particularly for Jax, who erupted in rage upon discovering that Brittany had been hooking up with his former friend, Julian. Although the two have kept their distance, Brittany returned to their once-shared home with their son, Cruz, just before Jax checks himself into an inpatient facility for his mental health after his explosive outburst.

Upon returning to their former home, Jax is ecstatic to see his son. Because of his scary rage moments, Brittany does not allow Jax and Cruz alone. As Jax goes up to pick up his son, Brittany warns him not to kiss Cruz on the mouth.

Brittany then explains that she saw a woman leave Jax’s house that morning after seeing the home security camera and was concerned that he hadn’t showered after the possibility of hooking up with the woman. Brittany warns Jax, “I just don’t want you kissing him on his face because you had a disgusting girl here last night.”

Jax denied he had hooked up with the woman and told Brittany that she had slept in the “spare bedroom,” but that only infuriated Brittany more since it was the bedroom her mother used to use when she visited from Kentucky. Brittany also discovered a cup with lipstick marks on it while looking in the fridge for milk for Cruz. “She has a house. Why couldn’t you go there? That was our one rule,” she said.

In a confessional, Jax stated that Brittany had also broken the rules by hooking up with his former friend. He added, “I just wanted to see Cruz and give him a big hug and a big kiss, and then right off the bat, Brittany is just coming at me.”

In Episode 2, Jax Makes The Decision To Seek Professional Help

Unfortunately, things didn’t get any better for Jax and Brittany in Episode 2. Once their nanny leaves with Cruz, the former couple get into an intense argument. Jax is seen packing his things upstairs to head to the inpatient facility for 30-days, when Brittany tearfully tells him, “You need to go get help for yourself and for our son. He cannot grow up and become a person like you.”

Jax then delivers a heavy blow to his former spouse: “If you were that miserable, you could’ve left years ago. I’ll never forgive you for this. Never.”

Back downstairs, Brittany threatens Jax by taking their son away from him if he does not complete the 30-day stay. “I’m filing right away, I’m taking Cruz, getting custody and putting a restraining order against you.”

Before leaving, Brittany delivers a shocking accusation and one that Jax may have needed to hear. “You have the coke problem. Everybody knows it. Own up to it. Be real with the doctors,” she emotionally states.

Jax and Brittany’s co-star Jason Caperna, is seen making his way to the house to take Jax to the facility. “I have nothing left in me,” Taylor told Jason. “The only reason I’m doing this is because, like I said, my son.”

In July 2024, Jax took to Instagram to share a photo with him and Cruz, shortly before he entered treatment. “Working on getting better for you and myself buddy, I love you. ❤️ @littlebabycauchi,” he captioned it.

During his 30-day stay, the reality TV star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. During an episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Jax shared that his recovery included many hours of therapy, reading, and journaling. He was prescribed Lexapro for his depression, which he called a “game-changer.”

“Ever since I’ve been on this medication, it’s been amazing. I’ve had no outbursts; I haven’t been angry. It’s a game-changer,” he said.

Brittany Was “Skeptical” About Jax’s Journey To A Healthier Lifestyle

Jax Revealed He Kicked His Addictions, But Brittany Doesn’t Have High Hopes

After Jax left the rehabilitation center, Brittany filed for divorce in August 2024, ending their five-year marriage. In the filing, she requested full legal and physical custody of their son, Cruz. Surprisingly, Jax responded by agreeing, asking that Brittany be granted full custody.

In March, Jax revealed on the Hot Mic podcast that he was over 80 days sober after dealing with “substance issues” —specifically with cocaine — for over 20 years. He told Bravo producer Alex Baskin, “People ask you, ‘Do you have an alcohol problem too?’ I don’t necessarily think I have an alcohol problem but the two go hand in hand. I can’t do cocaine without drinking. So I just gave up both.'”

Despite his journey to a clean and healthy lifestyle, Brittany had reservations about her ex maintaining his sobriety. Speaking to People, she shared:

“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on. For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years. I’ve tried desperately to help him without success. I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum.”

“I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can for my son and I, but every day is still a challenge and very difficult. Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage and I have very little trust in him at this point. My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son.”

As of this writing, Jax and Brittany are not yet divorced. In an April episode of her relaunched podcast, When Reality Hits, Brittany shared, “We still don’t know when it’s going to be finalized. You know, [there are] a couple of things still working on here and there. Hopefully it won’t be much longer.”
