Brian McFadden 'ashamed and disgusted' over Manchester Utd match taunts

Brian McFadden joined in with the condemnation of a malicious song calling Phil Foden’s mum a “s**g”, which rang out at the Old Trafford football stadium on Sunday. However, he was mocked over on X by trolls who challenged: “Is it your first match, mate?”

It all began when an “ashamed” Brian wrote: “I haven’t tweeted anything in a while but I just want to say this. I was at Old Trafford today for the Manchester Derby and I was ashamed and disgusted with the song the United fans sang about Phil Foden’s mother. It’s a game of football. Don’t bring people’s family into it.” He added: “So @PhilFoden and your mum, on behalf of the majority of United fans I apologise for those morons antics. God bless you and your mum x.”

The post quickly racked up almost 25,000 views, but the ex-Westlife crooner was mocked by one follower who accused him of acting like a newbie to the game.

When witheringly asked if it was his first game, he defiantly shot back: “Nope. Season tickets for 9 years.”

“And that’s really the chant that most offended you?”

Brian didn’t reply – but another follower chimed in: “Probably not. But as a United fan, maybe he doesn’t want to be associated with that kind of chant? We should be better than that… leave it to other supporters to let their clubs down.”

Many other tweets flooded in brutally mocking the singer, but he stuck to his guns as he condemned the insults.

Foden’s 44-year-old mum Clare Rowland originally hit the headlines after she was thrown out of a Welsh nightclub and handcuffed by police for knocking a hat from someone’s head.

She aggressively reacted to officers in a clip which subsequently surfaced online, but was cleared of assault.

In a statement produced in court, she explained: “I do not drink often but when I do, I make up for time. I am like an animal.”

She also hit the headlines over complaints made about a “deafening” two-hour long fireworks party – and it is believed that the publicity the incidents received led to the chants at the match.

However, many condemned the cruel taunts and Phil himself was stoic about it, writing on Instagram: “We keep going”, after the derby ended in a 0-0 draw.
