Brittany Cartwright Gives Surprising Update On Her Relationship With Stassi Schroeder On WWHL

Brittany Cartwright and Stassi Schroeder have both been romantically involved with Jax Taylor. However, that did not stop the women from developing a friendship which fans largely followed on Bravo’s fan-favorite reality TV show Vanderpump Rules. Stassi dated Jax during the early seasons of the show, and in 2015, Brittany joined the cast after beginning her own relationship with him, eventually marrying him in 2019.

With Brittany now separated from Jax, which is largely shown in The Valley Season 2, many fans expected her bond with Stassi to grow even stronger. However, Brittany recently revealed that their relationship isn’t as close as people might assume, offering new insight into where things stand between them today.

Brittany Cartwright Gives Fans An Update On Her Friendship With Stassi Schroeder

Despite both Brittany Cartwright and Stassi Schroeder having dated the same man, they appeared to form a bond over their shared history during their time on Vanderpump Rules. However, their friendship isn’t what it used to be as Brittany gave a surprising update on where they stand today.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, April 29th, after an intense Episode 3 of The Valley Season 2, a fan asked Brittany if Stassi reached out to her after she separated from Jax Taylor. Additionally, the same fan asked if they weren’t friends, “is there an opportunity for you guys to rekindle” the relationship?

“She has not, at all,” Brittany began. “But, I have seen her at Lala [Kent’s] daughter, Ocean’s birthday party, and I see her at different events, like Disney on Ice.” When Andy interrupted her and asked if the two spoke during those moments, Brittany said, “I always walk up and give a big hug, and we’re always very friendly, very nice to each other.”

She continued, “I want nothing but the best for them, so happy for them. A lot of love there, but no she has not [reached out].”

Brittany’s life has largely taken over tabloid headlines after her separation from Jax Taylor in February 2024 after nearly five years of marriage. In August 2024, Brittany filed for divorce from Jax after he entered an inpatient facility for his mental health for 30 days. The estranged spouses are now sharing their new lives on VPR’s spinoff The Valley Season 2. The season sees VPR alums Scheana Shay and Lala Kent making guest appearances, proving that they still remain very close to Brittany.

What Led To Brittany And Stassi’s Falling Out?

When Brittany spoke about her friendship with Stassi, host Andy asked if their fallout had anything to do with not attending Stassi’s wedding to Beau Clark in May 2022. “Yeah,” she told the host, adding, “But there is a lot that people don’t know about that.”

When Andy asked if not attending the wedding had anything to do with Jax, Brittany replied, “Yes.”

Stassi and her husband, Beau Clark, wed in Italy. However, several of her VPR co-stars and friends were notably missing from the guest list. The only VPR cast mates that were at the wedding included Katie Maloney, her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, and Kristina Kelly, who made sporadic appearances throughout the show.

Brittany and Jax were a part of Stassi’s small wedding guest list, but they could not make it. In a May 2022 episode of Stassi and Beau’s The Good the Bad the Baby podcast (via Us Weekly), Stassi shared, “To our faces, they are telling us that they are coming, but behind our back, the dude is texting Beau’s best friend that they’re not.” She continued:

“Good friends don’t do that. They don’t talk s*** about your wedding behind your back or pretend that they’re coming and give a list of reasons why they’re not coming to other people. Friends don’t do that to each other.”

“Two weeks before the wedding, right before I left for the book tour, I was like, ‘We need to address this with them because I’m not playing this game.’ I ordered all the stuff we needed to have in terms of seat assignments and the place cards. That’s done. So I need to know if I need to quickly ask to get things rearranged. Because it’s not just, like, taking out two people.”

The following month, both Brittany and Jax shared on the Betches Moms podcast that there were several reasons why they could not attend the wedding, which included a death in the family.

“We had actual reasons why we couldn’t go that were not talked about. Like, Cruz’s passport didn’t come in, my mom had a death in the family and had to go home,” Brittany shared. “That was not the case. It was that I was literally trying to be there, up until the very last minute.”

Former VPR Stars Make Appearances To Support Brittany On The Valley Season 2

Although Brittany and Stassi no longer share the close friendship they once had during their time on Vanderpump Rules, Brittany continues to receive strong support from Scheana Shay and Lala Kent. Both women appear as guests on Season 2 of The Valley and have remained close friends with Brittany throughout her separation from Jax.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Scheana made it clear that she was “Team Brittany” when it came to their tumultuous separation. “I’m doing whatever I can to be here for Brittany,” Scheana began. “She is such a strong person, such an incredible mother, and anything I can do to help support her I am here,” she said.

“I am team Brittany ride or die. Love her.”

As for Lala, she supported Brittany on The Valley After Show when it was discovered that Jax had allegedly gone after Brittany’s looks and body-shamed her during their marriage.

After Brittany opened up about the hurtful insults Jax would hurl at her, Lala responded with empathy, saying, “Yeah, I can’t even imagine what he would say to you behind closed doors.” Brittany went on to explain that Jax often put on a facade in front of others, making their marriage appear picture-perfect.
