Bronwyn Newport, a prominent figure in her second season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has recently shared insights into her husband’s emotional infidelity and the loss of her father.
This season has seen Bronwyn candidly addressing not just her challenging relationship with her parents, but also their ongoing health issues. During the filming period, her father was residing in an assisted living facility while her mother stayed with her and Todd Bradley.
In a conversation with US Weekly, Bronwyn discussed her journey on the show and the revelation in season five about Todd’s involvement in an affair. She later clarified to fans that the affair was emotional rather than physical.
Bronwyn expressed to the publication, “I truly felt a connection with the women in Puerto Vallarta when I opened up about the challenges Todd and I have faced in the past.”
Bronwyn continued, “I don’t think they knew then — maybe some of them still don’t know — me sharing something is not natural for me. I have to really trust somebody. That was me really putting a lot of trust in them, and I wish it had gone differently.”
Regarding how Todd and her daughter feel about her being on the show, she shared, “My husband and daughter are always very critical of my choice to be on reality TV. It’s so hard for Todd to watch me argue with the women and let it go. Sometimes the husbands don’t rebound as quickly as we all do.”
Bronwyn also spoke to US Weekly about her parents. Notably, her father passed away shortly after they completed filming for season six of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
About the passing of her dad, she said, “We lost my dad right after filming wrapped.” Bronwyn continued, “So, during filming, I think an important thing for people to know is that we were like in the process of losing my dad, and there was so much stress at home for me.”
She then said, “But obviously my mom’s gone from being my mom and Gwen’s grandma to kind of us taking care of her and her living with us, and I think that’s been a really hard transition for her.”
Bronwyn added, “I think as you get older, even in my own role with my daughter, when I’m not her mom, I’m more of like a support system or a friend. I do feel like a loss of control, that’s very, very destabilizing.” She then explained that all these changes helped amply the tension with her mother.
She also stated that losing someone to alzheimer’s and dementia is the “hardest, slowest, most miserable way to lose someone.” Bronwyn also says she felt that she lost her dad “in little pieces.” Additionally, she said they took care in filming to ensure that he could consent and that she would cherish the footage she now has of him.
