In the wake of Catherine O’Hara’s sudden passing at the age of 71, her Hollywood co-stars and friends have begun paying their respects. The beloved actress, known for her memorable roles in “Home Alone” and “Schitt’s Creek,” passed away in her Brentwood, California home, leaving her fans and colleagues in mourning.
Brett Cullen, who appeared alongside O’Hara in the 1994 Western film “Wyatt Earp,” was seen visiting her home on Saturday. Cullen, visibly somber, wore a baseball cap and sunglasses as he arrived to honor his late co-star.
In “Wyatt Earp,” O’Hara brought to life the character of Allie Earp, the sister-in-law of the legendary lawman portrayed by Kevin Costner. Her performance in the Academy Award-nominated movie remains a testament to her versatile acting prowess.
Expressions of tribute continued throughout the day, with a poignant moment captured as a man, wearing a T-shirt featuring O’Hara in her iconic “Schitt’s Creek” role, gently placed a single flower on the steps of her home.
Additionally, a woman was observed carrying a large bouquet of flowers as she approached the residence, symbolizing the deep affection and admiration O’Hara inspired in those who knew her.
The late actress suffered a medical emergency at the home on Friday, with paramedics summoned to the scene around 5 a.m.
Her agency said she died “following a brief illness,” but an official cause of death hasn’t been announced.
O’Hara lived with a rare heart condition called dextrocardia with situs inversus, a birth defect in which the organs in the chest and abdomen are positioned as a mirror image of normal anatomy.
O’Hara didn’t discover she had the congenital anomaly until adulthood.
