The world watched on earlier this week as US President Donald Trump welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Opal Office – before abruptly kicking him out. The US and Ukraine were set to sign a significant minerals deal but Mr Zelensky was told to leave the White House early after a fiery exchange.

Trump told Zelensky: “You’re gambling with [the] lives of millions of people, you’re gambling with World War III, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to this country.” The much-anticipated minerals deal was not signed after Mr Trump branded Mr Zelensky “disrespectful” in the 50-minute clash.

In a scathing statement following the fallout, Trump declared that the Ukraine leader “is not ready for peace”, writing: “We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.

“It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”

Many celebrities and world leaders supported Ukraine and President Zelensky in the aftermath as they shared their own opinions online, with Trump facing endless backlash. Actor Michael Caine was one of the first famous faces to express their thoughts, as he posted to X saying: “Trump calm down.”

This evening, Adam Sandler was the latest celeb to make a dig at Trump. The Hollywood star was seen in the audience of the 2025 Oscars as host Conan O’Brien aimed to stress the importance of dressing appropriately for the “prestigious night”.

He quickly spotted Adam in the crowd and singled him out for his outfit – a bright blue hooded jacket paired with contrasting blue basketball shorts, white socks, and sneakers. As Conan asked what he was wearing, Adam replied: “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up!”

But Adam’s joke left viewers unimpressed, as they took it as a dig at Trump feeling “disrespected” by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky during their talk at the White House last week – after the Ukraine leader did not wear a suit to the meeting.

Other stars who have criticised the President include actor Alyssa Milano. She shared a video of a news broadcast fact-checking Trump and Vance’s claims against Zelensky as she captioned it: “I don’t even know what to say. To the people of Ukraine—I see you and feel your pain.”

Billie Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, shared an IG story clip of the heated exchange alongside her thoughts. She wrote: “What a horrific day this was. We are so much more than the bullies that are Trump and Vance! #standwithukraine”

Comedian and The 1% Club host Patton Oswalt wrote: “Bunch of pot-bellied, sunken-chested Men’s Wearhouse Putin-poodles trying to bully a scary-quiet, wasteland survivor who stared down death is gorgeous cringe.” Meanwhile, actor and filmmaker Elizabeth Banks shared an image of the Ukrainian flag with the caption, “I support Ukraine.”

BBC star Mariella Frostrup has issued an eight-word warning to King Charles after Donald Trump’s public row with Volodymyr Zelensky.  She urged the monarch to cancel the US president’s scheduled UK visit in an unprecedented move.

The ITV star wrote: “King Charles MUST cancel this UK #Trump visit. Does anyone want to see our monarch in an embarrassing photo opportunity with the baby bully currently inhabiting the White House after tonight’s disgusting tantrum? Surely no matter what our struggles we are better than that?!”

Superstar Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster also made their feelings on Trump clear. The singer shared a photo of Zelensky meeting Starmer at Number 10 on Saturday on Instagram alongside the caption: “Proud To Be British. Well done Starmer in welcoming Zelensky to the number 10. We must keep supporting the Ukrainian. Sir Rod.”

Meanwhile, Penny has told her husband that he is never allowed near US President Donald Trump again. She said: “When he began to run for president and started to hearing those dangerous rhetorics, this crossed all sorts of boundaries. From that point I said, ‘Darling we are not going near him again’.”

Pedro Pascal showed support for Ukraine by posting a map of the country with the caption: “Courage has a name,” and the hashtag “Stand with Ukraine.” He also shared a portrait of President Volodymyr Zelensky adding: “Stay on the right side of history. Glory to Ukraine.”

Liev Schreiber and director Jason Cone shared a joint post to Instgram supporting Ukraine. Their joint statement read: “I’ve never stopped standing with Ukraine, but after the utterly disgraceful events in the Oval Office, it bears repeating it over and over again.”

The ever-outspoken Katie Hopkins also had her say on the matter, seemingly siding more with Trump. She claimed the Ukrainian leader has “screwed” UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other European heads.

Claiming people have been sold a lie about the war in Ukraine in her lengthy analysis of the contentious meeting she also predicted Zelinsky would be back “grovelling like a weasel” to Trump.
