Chicago Med Fans Completely Changed Their Opinions Of Dr. Caitlin Lenox In Only One Season
Share and Follow

During the 10th season of Chicago Med, fans learned how much their feelings about the TV show could change in a handful of episodes. For example, after fans were worried that Dr. Daniel Charles needed to be treated better early in the season, later episodes were unusually fun. If that wasn’t enough, one Season 10 episode was the best in the show’s history, the season improved one of the best characters, past stars were brought back, and new characters were introduced.

One of those new characters who was introduced during Season 10 was Dr. Caitlin Lenox. When Dr. Lenox first showed up, many Chicago Med fans hated her because of how she treated the show’s other characters. With that in mind, it is staggering that by the end of Chicago Med’s 10th season, many fans felt completely different about Dr. Lenox as their hearts broke for her.

Why Many Chicago Med Fans Initially Hated Dr. Caitlin Lenox

Throughout the history of television, there have been many times when a character was added to a show who is extremely strict and tries to ruin what makes the show fun. For example, after fans grew to love Dr. Gregory House’s from House’s antics, Edward Vogler was introduced as a character that was trying to take him down.

In many cases, the new strict leader trope showing up again is baffling. After all, who thinks it’s a good idea to introduce a character that diminishes what people like about a show? During the 10th season of Chicago Med, Dr. Caitlin Lenox was introduced, and she seemed like she could be another example of that trope.

After being introduced as a new authority figure in Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s Emergency Department, Dr. Lenox even fired the student doctor Conor Perkins. Not long after Dr. Lenox was introduced during the premiere of Chicago Med’s 10th season, many fans were outspoken about hating her.

In September 2024, a fan on the r/ChicagoMed subreddit posted about how much they liked Dr. Lenox as a character. While the original poster and some people who responded liked Dr. Lenox, they appeared to be in the minority by far.

One response to the subreddit post even went so far as to call Dr. Lenox a “b****.”

“I hate her for firing Zach! I want him back! She’s a crazy b****! A zero freaking tolerance and high status? A know-it-all and a freak!”

Amazingly enough, another response to the subreddit post expressed an extremely similar sentiment about Dr. Lenox. “she’s a b**** for getting zach to open up to her to then fire him without any hesitation or warning or show of concern. and then walking away without mentioning he can talk to goodwin if he wants or something. she initially reminded me of the lady king pin from euphoria who traffics girls and kidnapped rue. she shows no affect or emotional connections or empathy. i dont like her”

Another one of the responses to the subreddit found an interesting way to express how much they hated Dr. Lenox.

Before joining the cast of Chicago Med as Dr. Caitlin Lenox, Sarah Ramos already had an impressive acting career going. According to IMDb, Sarah starred in Parenthood for several seasons, and she appeared in three episodes of the highly acclaimed show, The Bear, among a slew of other roles.

One Chicago Med fan responded to the post by arguing they would leave a hospital in real life if they dealt with a doctor like Dr. Lenox.

“Can’t stand dr.lennox on chicago med. Trust me if I went to the hospital and encountered a Dr like that I’d go elsewhere”

Some of the other responses to the post took a more typical angle while posting about why they disliked Dr. Lenox. For example, one fan simply stated how much they didn’t like Dr. Lenox as a character. “I can’t stand Dr Lenox so far.”

When and Where Was Sarah Ramos Born, According to Famous Birthdays?

  • Sarah Ramos was born on May 21st, 1991
  • Sarah Ramos was born in Los Angeles, California
  • As of June 2025, Sarah Ramos is 34 Years Old

One of the other fans who responded to the subreddit post argued that they disliked Dr. Lenox because they felt she was a poorly written character.

“I actually can’t stand her. I feel she’s terribly one-note and really poorly written. I truly hope she doesn’t last much longer”

While there were many responses expressing how much fans disliked Dr. Lenox after the character debuted, one was especially interesting.

One fan responded to the post by initially stating that they really disliked Dr. Lenox as a character. However, that fan then pointed out that Dr. Lenox could still be improved as a character and even drew parallels to another notable Chicago Med character.

“I can’t stand her . Maybe that will change it did with Archer but so far I find her very irritating and full of herself. She’s starting off similar to Archer but he improved maybe she will.”

During the rest of Chicago Med’s 10th season, the consensus about Dr. Lenox notably changed.

Many Chicago Med Fans Grew To Like Dr. Caitlin Lenox After Only One Season

In May 2025, another fan on the r/ChicagoMed subreddit posted about Dr. Lenox. As a part of that post, the fan asked if Dr. Lenox would improve as a character. “i’m only on episode 5 now of season 10, but tell me this lenox girl gets better? she’s really annoying” By the time that post was made, the 10th season of Chicago Med was almost finished airing on NBC. As a result, the responses that the post got are a perfect way of showing that many fans grew to like Dr. Lenox as the season progressed.

The top most-upvoted reponse to the second subreddit post argued that Dr. Lenox was getting better as a character. “She’s slowly improving.” The next most-upvoted response argued that Dr. Lenox “softens up” and compared her character development to what Dr. Dean Archer went through.

“Yes. I hated her at first but(not gonna spoil it for you) she softens up in a few episodes. Kind of like Archer “

One of the other top responses epitomized how many differently fans had grown to see Dr. Lenox differently as they saw more of the character.

Easily the most notable response to the post was from someone who stated that they’d grown to really like Dr. Lenox after initially disliking her.

“It took a while for me to warm up to her but she’s one of my favorites now.”

During Chicago Med’s finale, fans realized that Dr. Lenox had gotten truly heartbreaking news. In May 2025, Collider published an article that shows how much more Chicago Med viewers were rooting for Dr. Lenox by the time the 10th season finished.

The Collider article argued that the 11th season of Chicago Med needs to embrace Dr. Lenox by giving her things to be happy about. For example, the article was rooting for Dr. Lenox to get a love interest during the show’s 11th season.

Needless to say, having fans going from hating a character to rooting for them to find love is a huge transition to accomplish.
