Chris Evans sold his house to George Michael who put it up for sale just one month later

Chris Evans sold a luxury property he never moved into which was later bought by George Michael.

The Virgin Radio presenter, 57, cheekily shared he purchased the house on Millionaire’s Row on a whim in his younger years. It was the same property he later sold to the Faith hitmaker for an eye-watering sum of £7.25million.

The former BBC DJ opened up about his extravagant purchases during a chat with his co-stars Rachel Horne and Vassos Alexander on Wednesday (February 28).

It comes after the trio discussed the late Freddie Mercury’s beloved central London home – named Garden Lodge – which has been put up for sale by his ex-fiancee Mary Austin.

The Queen legend, who tragically died in the Kensington home three decades ago, purchased the property back in 1985 for £500,000. Now, the mansion is back on the market for £30million after its value has increased sixtyfold.

“I think if I phoned the [agents] up I could have a look around the [property] for you and take some sneaky photos,” Chris told listeners.

It comes as estate agents are said they want to deter fans, who don’t have the immediate funds to purchase the property from buying, and those who do will have to undergo a thorough vetting process if they can afford the home.

He went on: “Some people think I have those kind of funds available now. I really don’t. There was time but that time has gone.

“I once sold my home to George Michael and he sold it to Puff Daddy. I didn’t move in at all nor did George.”

He said it had been an “impulse purchase” and he was young and single with a lot of cash.

“I was living in a flat at the time and I was single,” he mused. “I went to look at houses I can’t afford now.”

Chris went on to reiterate there was nothing wrong with the house but he decided against moving in and soon put it back on the market.

The media mogul purchased the six-bedroom Victorian residence in Chelsea, which had a tower and walled garden, for £6.25million in 2001 and later sold it to George Michael for £7.25million, according to the Independent.

The singer, who sadly died in on Christmas Day in 2016, revealed he regretted buying the house from Chris.

George bought the London townhouse in 2002 and it went up for sale for £8.25million a month later.

Speaking about his regrets to Q magazine the singer said: “Behaviour-wise, there have probably been a few [regrets]. Also, buying Chris Evans’ old house, gutting it, having to put it back together again, then selling it within the space of a month having seen and bought another place.”
