Alex Duong, a beloved actor and comedian, has passed away following a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
The heart-wrenching news was revealed by Duong’s close friend, Hilarie Steele, on Saturday through a GoFundMe page established to support his family, including his wife, Christina, and their five-year-old daughter, Everest.
“He was comfortable and, fortunately, free from pain,” Steele shared in her message.
She added, “Alex was able to bid farewell to his cherished daughter, a bond he has treasured since her birth.”
In closing, Steele expressed, “Our hearts are shattered, yet we are profoundly thankful for the support, prayers, and kindness you have all extended during this unimaginable period.”
On Friday, Steele wrote that Duong’s health took a turn for the worse.
“He has gone into septic shock, a severe and life-threatening infection that has overwhelmed his body,” she wrote. “He is in the hospital, and the situation is critical. Everything has changed so quickly.”
At the time, she asked for donations to go towards emergency medical care and hospital costs, rent, food, and basic living expenses.
On Sunday, Steele said the family was “overwhelmed with gratitude” over the outpouring of support.
“Please keep Alex and his family in your prayers,” she wrote. “Your support is carrying them through the hardest time of their lives.”
In 2025, Duong — best know for his appearances on “Blue Bloods” — was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer affecting soft tissue.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition typically affects older children, teenagers and young adults between the ages of 20 and 35, and the cancer is aggressive, spreading quickly after it develops.
Duong’s credits include appearances on “Dexter,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “90210,” “The Young and the Restless” and “Pretty Little Liars.”
