RHOBH's Crystal Kung-Minkoff Reveals Why She's "Fiercely Loyal" to Kathy Hilton, Claims Kathy "Would've Never Done" Show Without Her, and Shares How She Got Husband Rob Minkoff on Board With Role

Crystal Kung-Minkoff is fiercely loyal to Kathy Hilton and on Monday’s episode of her, and Cynthia Bailey‘s podcast, she explained why.

As she also declared that Kathy, 65, would have never joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills without her and shared how Kathy got her husband, Rob Minkoff, 62, on board with her role, Crystal, 41, revealed that Kathy was a good friend to her amid her falling out with others.

“Kathy knows some of the girls,” Crystal explained on the January 13 episode of Humble Brag With Crystal and Cynthia, giving a nod to the group of seven (not 14) women who ousted her from their mommy and me club after she signed on to the Bravo series.

“And the reason why I am [such a] fiercely loyal friend to Kathy is because she stood up for me. They tried to change her and she said, ‘I know that’s not true because I called Crystal,’” Crystal detailed.

According to Crystal, one of the members of the mommy and me group had wanted to join RHOBH for years. So, when she was asked to do the show and agreed, they suffered a falling out that led the women to cut ties with her — and to encourage others to do the same, even if it meant spreading “lies and negativity” about her.

As Crystal signed on to do the show, she and Kathy grew close, making a pact to join the series as a team.

“Kathy did it because I did it. She’s like ‘I know you. You’re gonna protect me. I’ll protect you. You’re the nice one.’ So Kathy would’ve never done it if I didn’t do it,” Crystal said.

Then, recalling a late-night call from Kathy in which they discussed their additions to the show, Crystal shared Rob’s reaction to Kathy’s decision to sign on.

“‘If it’s good enough for Kathy Hilton, it’s good enough for you,’” he told Crystal.

Also on the podcast, Crystal admitted to seeking out Kathy’s help in potentially mending her relationships with her seven friends.

“I remember having lunch with Kathy a few times throughout and I would just cry and I’m like, ‘Help me,’ and she’s like, ‘I know you. I’ve told them the timeline. I’ve told them I’m with you on this,’” Crystal explained, noting that Kathy had attempted to convince the women that she had not plotted her role for as long as they believed.

However, despite Kathy’s efforts, Crystal was unable to get back on good terms with the group.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
