David Boreanaz’s Dating History: The Women He Has Been Linked to Over the Years

Over the past three decades, David Boreanaz has built an unusually broad television résumé, moving from the supernatural world of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” to the procedural drama “Bones” and the military series “SEAL Team.” Away from the screen, however, his personal life has also attracted steady tabloid attention, including two marriages, a high-profile affair and allegations involving blackmail.

Who were the women romantically linked to the actor whose face became a fixture in teenage bedrooms around the turn of the millennium? Which beloved star credited Boreanaz with helping her escape a harmful relationship? Who crossed the Atlantic to be closer to him, and where did he meet the woman who would become his wife? Here is a look back at Boreanaz’s complicated romantic history.

Boreanaz made one of his earliest notable television appearances in a 1993 episode of the hit sitcom “Married… with Children,” playing Kelly Bundy’s rebellious biker boyfriend. The on-screen romance soon spilled into real life when he and Christina Applegate began dating.

Unlike his tough television character, Boreanaz proved to be a supportive presence for Applegate. In her autobiography “You With the Sad Eyes,” she described how he helped her find the resolve to leave an abusive boyfriend. After a particularly frightening incident, Applegate recalled (via Entertainment Weekly), “I called David, even though I’d known him for only four days. ‘I can’t be alone in my house,’ I said, and David showed up at the log cabin to keep me company.”

Their friendship became romantic only days later, though the relationship lasted just a few months. Applegate has said she remained deeply thankful that Boreanaz helped her move beyond that difficult period. “Thinking back, I can’t say enough how much I appreciated him for being the reason I was finally able to get back to normal,” she wrote. The former couple reunited in a particularly warm moment at the 2009 People’s Choice Awards, where Boreanaz presented Applegate with the award for favorite female TV star.

Boreanaz met social worker Ingrid Quinn in 1994 at the opening of an art gallery. Three years later, as he was landing his breakthrough role as Angel on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the couple married.

At first, Quinn appeared comfortable with her husband’s sudden rise to fame. “Ingrid’s always been supportive,” Boreanaz told E! News. He described her as a strong, practical partner who helped him prepare for new challenges, calling her “one strong Irishwoman.” In a 1999 interview with The Morning Call, he also suggested that he and Quinn hoped to start a family while discussing their shared love of golf: “It’s a sport we love and will continue together, at least until we have children. Hopefully, someday soon.”

Reports later claimed Quinn became uneasy about Boreanaz’s relationships with female castmates on the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff “Angel” and sometimes visited the set to keep an eye on him. After roughly two years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

In Britain, Catalina Guirado became known in the late 1990s as the resident “gorgeous girl” on the irreverent chat show “TFI Friday.” Each week, her advances toward an intentionally unattractive male guest were turned down. Off-screen, however, the model had no trouble attracting a Hollywood star.

Guirado and Boreanaz began dating after he left “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and following the end of his first marriage. They made their relationship public at the sixth Annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in 2000. Soon afterward, Guirado moved to Los Angeles to avoid the strain of a long-distance romance. The change in geography, though, did not guarantee a lasting relationship.

“I thought the way to make it work was to move there,” Guirado, who in 2007 got married to Matt Cheadle, told OK! magazine after their romance had turned sour. “Very wrong — it was a disaster. But even though David and I didn’t work out I wanted to be in LA. I wasn’t going to let some stupid man stop me from doing what I want.” 

The Playboy Mansion may not sound like the setting for a traditional love story, but it was where Boreanaz met his second wife, Jaime Bergman. In 2001, the “Angel” actor attended a party at Hugh Hefner’s estate and struck up a conversation with the former Playmate. By the end of that year, they were married.

Boreanaz and Bergman held a smaller Palm Springs wedding after the events of 9/11. They later welcomed two children, son Jaden Boreanaz and daughter Bella Boreanaz. Their seemingly idyllic marriage faced a major test in 2010, when reports emerged that Boreanaz had been unfaithful repeatedly. Bergman told People that she was deeply hurt but wanted to work on the relationship. “It took a crisis, it took infidelity to get us off our a**es and work for what we want,” she said. “We do the best we can. That’s all we can do.”

Boreanaz acknowledged that the affair had damaged the couple’s marriage, saying, “When we got married we had an unbelievable foundation that we’ve never forgotten. But it’s been damaged.” Bergman remained with him, and the couple is still together as of this writing. In 2017, she appeared with their son Jaden in an episode of Boreanaz’s hit series “Bones”.

That same year, Boreanaz publicly addressed the affair after saying a former mistress had attempted to blackmail him. He did not identify the woman, but Radar Online later published a series of intimate text exchanges between the actor and Rachel Uchitel, a former Bloomberg producer. Uchitel and Boreanaz had been involved while he was married to Bergman, although Uchitel denied trying to extort money from him.

“I have made no claims against him and do not plan to assert any,” Uchitel said in a statement, according to TMZ. “Any statements to the contrary are false and I hope that this statement will finally end any speculation about this issue.” Uchitel, who had also been drawn into the scandal surrounding Tiger Woods’ infidelity, said she did not intend to discuss the matter further. Within days, however, she offered a more detailed account.

“First of all I want to make it clear that he pursued me,” Uchitel told Radar Online in 2010. She said authentic text messages showed Boreanaz repeatedly expressing love and affection, and claimed she ended the relationship after losing respect and trust in him. Uchitel also said she had believed Boreanaz was separated from Bergman, learning otherwise only when she went into labor with their second child.
