Demi Engemann revealed why she didn’t attend the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion, and she named other co-stars who also allegedly risked “having people kicked off” the show for a higher paycheck.

In the new season, the cast revealed that Demi was apparently willing to allow her good friend Jessi Ngatikaura to be fired so that Demi could have a higher salary. Demi also described herself as a “fan favorite,” and she seemed to befriend her former enemy, Whitney Leavitt, to have backup as she tried to oust Taylor Frankie Paul from the group.

Amid the fan backlash, Demi skipped the reunion. Many fans think she failed to attend so she wouldn’t have to face her actions.

On Instagram, Demi was asked if she wasn’t invited to the reunion.

“I was [invited],” she wrote. “It was short notice and the only day they could get the location secured was the day that me and my entire family did Disneyland.”

She went on, “We had already booked all of our flights and the Airbnb was nonrefundable or I would’ve moved the trip to be there. I tried to have production move it to another day and they couldn’t swing it sadly.”

In a recent interview for Decider, Whitney claimed that Demi wasn’t the only villain of season two. After this interview, a fan asked on TikTok if “anyone else [tried] to get people kicked off the show or was that just Demi?”

Another fan account said, “Whitney is her friend now so she is gonna lie for her 🙄.”

Demi then interjected: “Yes actually. Jen Affleck, Mikayla Matthews, and Mayci Neeley were also willing to ‘risk having people kicked off’ if it meant getting [paid] what we deserved. Btw we never specifically said we wanted Jessi kicked off nor did we actually believe they would really ‘kick people off’. The show wouldn’t be the show without everyone in Momtok, and we knew that. Especially after a successful season 1.”

“We were attempting to use that as leverage and calling their bluff to get paid more,” she continued, via @stephwithdadeets on TikTok. “That definitely got twisted along the way (specifically by Jen). But of course us talking about that this season wasn’t shown. Why? Oh! Exactly what Whitney’s saying here, someone had to be the designated villain 😏 and my bad moments were ‘hyper focused’ on and context was left out to make me look like the bad guy. Context makes all the difference is what she’s saying.”
