Former Channel 4 stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have been inundated with support as they issued an emotional announcement online. The couple continue to update fans about their lives in France, despite their series Escape to the Chateau coming to an end in 2022. The pair tied the knot at their home in 2015 and share two children; Arthur, 12, and 11-year-old Dorothy. Taking to Instagram, the proud parents marked the end of Arthur’s first year at college – the equivalent to secondary school – revealing he has made some huge achievements.

Alongside an image of Arthur wearing a signed red shirt, likely on his final day, Dick and Angel penned: “Congratulations to our big boy Arthur! His first year at college is officially over and he has had a ball…” The couple continued: “It’s a bit of a gushy parent moment…but this young man received some pretty big achievements this year…including coming 3rd in his school for a National French Mathematics competition…where he was competing against all ages up to 15!

“Love him to bits and just could not be prouder… Dorothy still has a week left at school…and it’s all go with spectaculars and end of school parties.”

They signed off the post: “Have a fabulous Thursday!”

Fans flooded the post with supportive messages as they congratulated Arthur on the impressive accomplishment.

“Many congratulations Arthur, enjoy your holidays,” commented one fan as a second shared: “Wow that’s fantastic Arthur, well done to you. Yes proud parent moments indeed.”

A third gushed: “Congratulations and well done Arthur,” as another echoed: “Well done Arthur, that’s fantastic.”

In an interview earlier this year, Dick, 65, hinted that the door was still open for a potential return of Escape to the Chateau.

He explained that the decision to end the show was driven by the impending changes in their children’s lives, with Arthur starting senior school and Dorothy entering her final year before moving on.

The TV star told the publication: “The thing is, Escape to the Chateau is a year-long project for every season, and Arthur starts senior school, Dorothy is in her last year before she moves, and that change in the children was the rationale.

“Because we had back in 2022 huge conversations saying, before they get all the pressures that young people have in their lives on them, it was time for us to walk away from the escape. That’s why we did it.”
