In November 2022, Chris Hemsworth made a shocking announcement revealing he’d been diagnosed with a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease. “They took all my bloodwork and did a bunch of tests and the plan was to on-camera tell me all the results and then talk about how you can improve this and that,” Chris wrote in a piece for Vanity Fair.
The actor explained that the prognosis can be improved with lifestyle changes, including sleep and stress management as well as proper fitness and nutrition.
However, Chris added that the news has prompted him to take a step away from acting, which led to an out wave of support from the actor’s family, friends, and fans. But one person who hasn’t publicly commented on his diagnosis is Miley Cyrus, his former sister-in-law.
Miley was married to Chris’s younger brother Liam Hemsworth. They began dating in 2009, and finally tied the knot after being off-and-on in 2018. However, Liam and Miley’s marriage only lasted a year, as they divorced in 2018.
Though she was once close to Liam’s family, many fans question if Miley is still on good terms with his family in the present day. And now people are wondering if she even reached out after hearing of Chris’s recent medical news.
Miley Cyrus Was Close To Liam Hemsworth’s Family Until The Divorce
Liam and Miley were together for over 10 years, so it’s not surprising that she grew close to his family in that time.
The singer even got matching tattoos with her sister-in-law Elsa Pataky, who’s married to Liam’s brother Chris, in addition to being featured on each other’s social medias several times.
Despite Miley’s divorce from Liam, Elsa has said she doesn’t regret the matching ink. “I don’t regret any of them, they’re symbols and I love having them and it reminds me of those moments,” she told Vogue in 2020.
Considering how close Miley was to Liam’s family during their time together, and her sister-in-law’s comments, it appears like she’s still on good terms with the Hemsworth clan, even if they’re no longer close.
This supports the theory that Miley reached out to them after Chris’s diagnosis, given how difficult of a time it may be.
Liam Hemsworth And Miley Cyrus Didn’t End Things On Good Terms
Miley may not have only offered her support to Chris and Elsa, but also her ex-husband Liam. Even though their divorce came as a shock to many, the exes may be on amicable terms.

Soon after announcing their split, sources said the two weren’t communicating.
“It’s safe to say they both are not the biggest fans of one another and did not end on good terms because they were both so upset,” one source said.
“There’s no reason for them to still talk and it’s painful. They still have several mutual friends but have not communicated at all for quite some time. They both see the break-up differently and handled things differently as well.”
If Miley wasn’t on speaking terms with Liam, it’s unlikely she was communicating with his family following their divorce.
In the following years, neither Miley nor Liam bad mouthed one another publicly. But Miley hasn’t shied away from talking about how conflicted the on-and-off nature of their relationship was.
“It was that thing I just needed not because we were in love anymore but because the comfort and because my brain said, ‘Oh, this feels better. This is comforting,'” Miley said in 2020.
“Knowing that I was giving in to an addiction made me feel way worse. I had the hangover. Next day, okay, we sleep together, next day, I’m totally hungover,” she continued. “It felt like a relapse every time I’d go back.”
Even if Liam and Miley weren’t speaking immediately after their split, that’s not to say they didn’t resume communication later on (as their on-and-off nature suggests they did in the past). Moreover, news as shocking as Chris’s diagnosis is motive enough to make Miley reach out to her ex even if they haven’t spoken recently.
However, Liam and Miley have both dated other people since their divorce. She may have declined to reach out to Liam out of respect for the fact that he’s moved on.
Did Miley Cyrus Reach Out To Liam Hemsworth After Chris’ Announcement?
To date, Miley hasn’t directly addressed her former brother-in-law’s diagnosis, so it’s unclear if she’s reached out to Liam or his family to offer her support.
The singer is open about certain aspects of her personal life, including what she believes went wrong in her marriage to Liam. However, fans will notice that there are other areas she keeps private, including speaking on the private matters of people in her personal life.
So, even if Miley reached out, fans shouldn’t expect her to speak out about someone one else’s medical issue, even if it’s highly publicized. And if she hasn’t reached out, then that’s also something she’s unlikely to comment on.
