Viewers of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test were stunned this week when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills personality Mauricio Umansky exited the demanding competition.
The 56-year-old chose to withdraw after sustaining an injury and determining that he could not safely continue filming the series.
Following his departure, Mauricio has opened up to multiple media outlets about what he experienced on the show.
In a recent interview with E!, he also discussed the status of his relationship with his estranged wife, Kyle Richards, 57.
“Kyle and I are great friends; that’s the bottom line,” Mauricio said. “Obviously, we have not filed yet. But when it comes to these separations that people go through, do it with dignity.”
“She and I had a relationship for 30 years,” he added. “She’s my best friend, she’s the mother of my kids. We loved each other, we love each other.”
Mauricio admitted that ending a relationship under the public spotlight is “not fun,” especially when outsiders continually demand explanations about the couple’s situation.
Still, he said he hopes he and Kyle can demonstrate that it is possible to navigate a separation “with elegance and dignity” while maintaining mutual respect.

He also addressed ongoing speculation that he and Kyle could eventually get back together, indicating that a reconciliation is not part of their current plans.
“We just take it day at a time right now,” he said. “I’m not going to give you any insight that I don’t have yet.”
Meanwhile, Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Dina Manzo reacted to a clip from the conversation. Her attention, however, was drawn less to Mauricio’s remarks about Kyle than to the unusual setting.
The interview took place in a sauna, with Mauricio and the hosts shirtless and towels wrapped around their lower bodies.
“Why are we naked?” Dina, 54, wrote in the comments.
“And why are they multiplying?” she continued, apparently referring to the seemingly undressed hosts who appeared alongside Mauricio.
Dina later clarified that her comment was specifically about “the wet naked men.”
Mauricio and the interviewers have yet to respond to Dina’s question.
