Marcello Hernández offered some humorous insights into the world of dating during his stand-up special, American Boy, on Netflix. It seems these tips are not just for laughs, as he might be applying them in his own life.
In his 2025 special, Hernández humorously commented on the lengths women go to when preparing for a date, likening it to a scene from a thriller. “Women live a secretly violent life,” he quipped, referencing the painful process of waxing. “Watching a woman get ready is like witnessing a scene from Dexter’s laboratory,” he joked.
Hernández further elaborated on why he believes men should cover the bill on dates. By the time women arrive, he suggested, they’ve invested so much in preparing that they’re practically in debt. “You never know where her period blood is,” he added with a grin. “Just pay and apologize for what she endures.”
In 2025, Hernández took his relationship with architect Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral public. For those curious about his personal life and career, there’s more to discover.

What Does Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral Do for a Living?
Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral works as an architect, sculptor and furniture designer who cofounded the Batlle and Sig firm with Signe Ferguson.
“We met in grad school at Yale. It was 2020, in the midst of the COVID pandemic,” Cabral recalled in an interview with Speciwomen. “I remember I texted a couple of people from the class [and] Signe invited me over for dinner. I started cooking and reading books with her, and we became close friends. Because the school was closed down, we made our studios within our homes. Domesticity and work became one of isolation.”
Cabral further explained the purpose of Batlle and Sig.
“Almost every project of ours explores irony in some way — using an everyday material that isn’t normally appreciated, questioning sacred ritual versus corporate capital, or … examining the idea of black dyes as censor or ink,” she explained. “We want projects that local realities produce, but it has to be good at the end of the day. Not just a concept or question, but something real.”

“If I’m you, and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?” Shepard asked Hernandez.
The SNL star responded, “I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale. But Sabrina’s awesome. And she’s really funny and cool. She’s great.”
