JoJo Siwa identified as a lesbian at the time of her appearance in Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year – but she has since retracted that, suggesting that her sexuality is “fluid” and she is still on a “journey” of self-discovery. The 22-year-old Dance Moms star clearly had chemistry with ex-Love Islander Chris Hughes during the show, and their relationship has now progressed to the point that she can’t stand to be “apart” from him for long.
After leaving the CBB house last month, JoJo broke up with her partner Kath Ebbs, telling her the experience she’d had on the show had helped her understand she was “queer, not lesbian”. On May 21, she was caught on camera smooching with Chris, who is a decade her senior, at the Epic Universe Studios Celestial Carpet Opening Celebration event in Orlando.
It comes after she emotionally revealed that CBB is “the best thing she’s ever done” in her 22 years on this planet, and Chris said he was “in the happiest phase of his life”.
However, less than a week later, when she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine show on May 26, she clarified that she is not in an exclusive relationship with the reality TV star so far.
Quizzed by Andi Peters on whether she’d had a Love Island style chat with him, emulating when stars go into the kitchen together to decide whether their heads have been “turned”, she was doubled over in hysterical laughter.
She coyly replied after regaining her composure that they’d had “lots of chats”, but added: “We have never gone into the kitchen and said, ‘My head’s not turning any way.'”
However, straight afterwards, she also vowed of her CBB co-star: “He couldn’t let me down even if he tried.”
After a romantic trip to her native USA together, where they appeared on the showbiz circuit in Orlando, Florida, they went their separate ways – but later, Chris adoringly greeted JoJo with flowers at London Heathrow Airport.
They went on to share a “perfect Sunday” together, uploading footage of their very cosy date night in front of the TV with two pizzas – and they’ve become so inseparable that JoJo has revealed she won’t go a whole month without seeing him.
She has a month-long music and dance tour scheduled in the US, but has confirmed that she plans to bring him along for at least part of it as her guest.
“I am sure he will pop in and out and come and say hey and come. We cannot be apart that long!” she vowed on NBC.
