Dolly Parton Tells Fans She 'Ain't Dead Yet' Amid Health Scare

Dolly Parton is setting the record straight about her health — in the most Dolly way possible. The country music legend took to social media this week to shut down rumors and assure fans she’s doing just fine.

On Wednesday, the 78-year-old star posted a lighthearted video on social media with the cheeky caption, “I ain’t dead yet!” The clip came just days after she canceled several appearances for health reasons, which sparked widespread concern. Worry intensified when Dolly’s sister, Freida Parton, took to Facebook to ask fans to keep the singer in their prayers — prompting speculation that something serious might be going on.

Rather than let the rumor mill keep turning, Dolly decided to address everyone directly. Filming on a commercial set for the Grand Ole Opry, she appeared on camera in full glam and classic Dolly charm.

“Everybody thinks I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here!” she joked, flashing a smile. She then reassured fans that while she’s been dealing with some health issues, there’s nothing alarming to worry about.

“I want you to know that I’m OK. I’ve got some problems, as I’ve mentioned … nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home,” Dolly explained.

The “Jolene” singer made it clear that she’s grateful for everyone’s love and support. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those of you that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate … but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying,” she said.

Dolly also addressed the online chatter directly: “There are a lot of rumors flying around, so I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was OK.”

And in true Dolly fashion, she ended the video with a touch of faith and humor: “I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me, and I ain’t done working. I love you for caring, and keep praying for me.”

Dolly’s sister also cleared up her earlier comments on Facebook, saying she “didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious. She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer.”

She emphasized that it was simply “a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister,” and thanked fans for their kindness and support.
