Dylan Barbour found himself in hot water after casually agreeing with his wife, Hannah Godwin, on the idea that they should start exercising “more.” This seemingly innocent suggestion quickly turned into a comedic moment for the couple.
The 31-year-old, known for his appearance on season 15 of The Bachelorette, humorously shared the aftermath of his comment on Instagram. On Monday, December 29, he playfully recounted the “consequences” of his suggestion to Godwin, 30, that they might benefit from some extra gym time.
Barbour posted a lighthearted video featuring photos of himself and Godwin, set against a mock Daily Mail headline that humorously stated, “Man sentenced to death after agreeing with wife they should start working out more.”
Accompanying the post, Barbour wrote, “🚨BREAKING: A local man has been sentenced to death after agreeing with his wife that they should ‘probably start working out more.’” His playful tone highlighted the tongue-in-cheek nature of the situation.
He hilariously went into more details, writing, “According to court records, the man nodded in agreement and said, ‘Yeah, that’s probably a good idea for us,’ moments before the atmosphere in the room reportedly shifted.”
He added: “Prosecutors allege the statement was interpreted as ‘confirmation of preexisting suspicions,’ despite the defendant insisting he was ‘talking about himself too.’ The man’s final words were said to be: ‘I meant for me. I was talking about me.’ An appeal has been denied.”
Barbour’s fans and Bachelor Nation members were quick to laugh along with him in the comments section.
“😂😂😂,” Maria Georgas wrote. One of his followers added, “This is peak comedy.” Another quipped, “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA omg😂.”
Other followers confessed that they fell for the faux headline at first, writing, “I actually thought something serious happened. 🤣😂🤣😂.” Another commented, “Omg I got scared 😂.”
Barbour and Godwin met during season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2019. After falling in love on the show, they got engaged during the finale episode.
Four years after their original proposal, Barbour got down on one knee again in 2023, just days before tying the knot in France.
“Although our first engagement was and still is SO special to us, over the past 4 years we’ve talked about having a special little moment just for us in the real world,” Godwin captioned a photo of her again accepting his proposal. She added, “Dylan surprised me and made it happen last week. Now we’re off to our wedding location today to tie the knot!!!”
The lovebirds got married at the Chateau de Villette in Condécourt, France, on August 23, 2023. Bachelor Nation members supported the couple at their nuptials, including Cassie Randolph, Tyler Cameron, Demi Burnett, Mike Johnson, Katie Morton and Jed Wyatt.

Since getting married, the couple exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about their life together in March.
“We’re super chill, very slow in San Diego,” Barbour said. “[Bachelor in Paraside] can work. Hannah and I have been together for coming up on six years,” he gushed. “So it’s been a long time. It feels like yesterday, but it works. People should go on, [and] people should tune in. Maybe we’ll show up. Maybe if they film and they ask us, we’ll go this year.” (Barbour and Godwin did not end up making an appearance on season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise.)
