The Traitors' Dylan Efron Thinks Showers Are 'Overrated'

Hopefully he has a good natural musk! The Traitors star Dylan Efron revealed he doesn’t care for hopping in the shower and turns to more unorthodox methods when it comes to getting clean.

“I think people shower too much,” Dylan, 33, responded when asked one thing he thought was “overrated,” during a series of questions from Are You Okay? show’s Bri Morales.

“We take way too many showers,” the reality star, whose brother is Zac Efron, doubled down when the host was taken aback by his answer in the Thursday, February 27, Instagram video.

“I go in the pool a lot. Like, there’s chlorine. It’s killing everything,” Dylan explained about his preferred method of bathing.

When Bri told him it wasn’t the same as “scrubbing your body,” the California native replied, “We don’t need to soap our bodies every time we’re in the shower either. That’s way too much.”

The way Dylan lives and works, he doesn’t find himself around indoor plumbing on a regular basis, so his interesting take on showering may have come from experience.

Dylan served as a producer on Zac’s Netflix documentary travel series Down to Earth With Zac Efron. The brothers traveled the world exploring healthy and sustainable living practices. The two visited far-flung locations across Costa Rica, Peru, Puerto Rico, Iceland and Sardinia during season 1 in 2020.

The second season of the show in 2022 featured Zac, 37, exploring Australia, which took the siblings to the mountains, coastline and desert where they got down and dirty learning about land restoration, restorative agriculture and rehabilitating wildlife following a devastating bushfire.

Dylan is a major outdoor enthusiast who has lived out of a van when on long camping trips and other adventures.

He shared a video of himself getting clean by sitting in a natural hot spring in California’s Eastern Sierra mountain range on December 26, 2024. Dylan stripped off his sweatshirt and jeans and threw on a pair of trunks before hopping in the mineral-rich water.

“So free I could scream … with permission of course,” Dylan wrote in the caption as he gazed out at snow-capped mountains while his dog played nearby.

The reality star even used his travel van to pick up his Traitors castmate “Boston” Rob Mariano from LAX Airport.

Dylan showed himself driving up to the arrivals area, where he patiently waited until he saw his pal come into view. The former stuntman slid the van’s door open where he hopped out and jumped into Rob’s arms for a joyful hug.

“When you find that friend who will pick you up at the airport,” Dylan wrote across the video posted on February 27. In the caption he noted, “Everyone’s in town for the reunion! What questions do you hope are asked by @bravoandy?”

Fans were more interested in the twosome’s friendship.

“You and Boston rob on the Amazing Race!!!!!!” one person begged, while another wrote, “Can’t believe we live in a world where Zac Efron’s adorable brother is in a bromance with my first crush reality icon Boston Rob.”

Dylan revealed how their friendship came about on The Traitors season 3. “If you’ve watched him [on Survivor], he is cutthroat and will stab you in the back. But on the flip side, I knew he was really good at games. I’m a rookie, so I thought he’d take me to the end,” the Peacock star told Cosmopolitan in February 13 interview. “He even said he would take me to the end in his confessional — he’s like, “I’m going to take him to the end and murder him.” That’s a great spot to be in! So the fact that he’s trusting me and I trust him fully … there’s a lot of game left and I needed people like that.”

Dylan revealed how he’d watched Rob, 49, on various Survivor shows over the years.

“I don’t get starstruck often, but I do look up to him. I’ve watched him since I was a kid, so he’s definitely an idol. It’s funny, again, I’m a rookie — I’d never done a confessional before. I remember going up to Boston Rob and being like, ‘What did you do in confessionals? [The producers] just want me to talk about you the whole time.’ In hindsight, it was so obvious,” he joked about being a reality competition newcomer.
