Dylan Efron, known for his engaging presence on screen, recently experienced a significant physical transformation while participating in the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars.
Efron, 33, took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 2, to share this personal journey with his followers. In the video, he candidly discussed the changes in his physique, stating, “Probably TMI but I’m fascinated with this stuff.” He revealed that he initially weighed around 175-178 pounds (approximately 80 kilograms) at the start of the show. However, by the third week, his weight dropped to 170 pounds due to the intense cardio workouts and a lack of proper nutrition, leading to alterations in his wardrobe.
The actor then detailed how a strategic shift in his diet allowed him to regain and even exceed his initial weight. “By the end of the show, my pant size was back to normal and I felt stronger,” Efron explained. He credited his increased intake of protein, which included nightly protein shakes and more meat, for the positive change. This adjustment resulted in a gain of about 15-20 pounds, leaving him feeling “so much stronger than before.”
Beyond the dance floor, Dylan Efron continued to impress as he stepped into the Traitors castle for the third season of the show. With his disarming charm and sharp strategic skills, he navigated the competition with ease. Efron’s efforts culminated in a shared victory during the thrilling March finale, where he walked away with more than $200,000.
Efron also shared that his current weight is 189 lbs.
Efron and dance partner Daniella Karagach made it all the way to the DWTS season 34 finale on November 25. The pair performed three dances — an unlearned dance selected and coached by the judges, an instant dance and a freestyle — in the hopes of gaining America’s votes. Efron and Karagach, 32, ultimately came in fourth place, with Robert Irwin and partner Witney Carson taking home the coveted mirrorball trophy. (Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovsky came in second place, while Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa came in third. Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten came in fifth.)
“Congrats @robertirwinphotography,” Efron wrote via Instagram after the finale. “This experience was made better with you alongside, can’t wait to hang out in the wild.”

Irwin, 22, responded in the comments section, “Dude you are the best. I’m so happy I got to be on this season with you. Catch you soon mate @dylanefron.”
During the finale, Dylan also gave a sweet shoutout to his older brother, Zac Efron.
“My whole life, I watched my brother perform,” the Traitors star said in a pretaped package. “I never wanted to be in the spotlight, and the fact that I can step out onstage and capture people’s attention truly gives me chills. I finally feel like I belong here.”
The shoutout came days after Zac, 38, supported his brother, along with their little sister, Olivia, during the November 18 semifinals.
“It means everything. I grew up watching him do stuff like this,” Dylan told Entertainment Tonight of the High School Musical alum’s appearance. “Looking over, my family’s there, my girlfriend. Just seeing all of them together, that’s my support.”
In an interview with People published on November 26, Dylan said DWTS opened him up to a new experience.
“I think I did something I never thought I would or could, and I think that’s what I’m feeling is I easily could have gone my whole life without ever experiencing this, and I’m so happy I did,” he said. “I’m so happy Dani was my partner. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.”
