Ella Langley Debuts New Look Without Her Signature Bangs

Anyone following country music has likely seen Ella Langley’s rapid ascent. The rising star has made a major impression with a string of hit songs, led by her 2025 chart-topping single, “Choosin’ Texas.” The track shattered records as it climbed the charts. Beyond her music, though, Langley has become just as recognizable for her standout fashion sense and unmistakable hairstyle.

Her dark hair and dramatic bangs have become a natural fit for her retro-inspired country aesthetic. Yet that now-signature look was not always part of Langley’s image. During her 2022 appearance at CMA Fest, when her music career was beginning to attract attention, she had not yet embraced the fringe. She wore her brown hair parted down the middle, with subtle layers and no bangs. She looked beautiful then, too, but the style was a noticeable departure from the Ella Langley fans know today.

Langley’s transformation is a reminder of how one seemingly small beauty decision can alter an entire look. Adding fringe bangs gave the “Don’t Mind If I Do” singer a markedly different presence. Though she is the same artist, the Langley seen at CMA Fest in 2022 looks strikingly different from the singer who attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2026. By then, her hair was longer and styled in soft curls, while her sweeping bangs framed her face. That unplanned shift helped shape the distinctive image she now brings to country music.

Ella Langley’s signature look came about from a rush haircut she did herself

Ella Langley explained the origin of her iconic bangs during an April 2026 appearance on Theo Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast, a few months after “Choosin’ Texas” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. As it turns out, the hairstyle was never carefully mapped out. Langley said she made the spur-of-the-moment change after trimming her own fringe before a performance. “I have a bad tendency to cut my own hair. Most of the time it goes bad,” she admitted.

The pivotal moment came after she had spent some time wearing cowboy hats onstage. “It was windy one show and it was pissing me off,” Langley recalled. Once she took off the hat, however, she realized she liked the way her “bangs were kind of around my face.” About 20 minutes before going onstage, she decided to trim her fringe. “It was so bad,” she said. Still, Langley and her creative director, Caylee Robillard, saw potential in the look. When they photographed the cover art for her first record, they chose to “full send it with the bangs” — and the decision left a lasting mark.

Whether Ella Langley will ever return to a bang-free hairstyle remains uncertain. “I don’t think I can ever change it. It changed my life a little bit, I would say,” she said. Her fringe has clearly become an essential piece of her visual identity as an artist, although it would be interesting to see the country singer surprise fans with another fresh look someday.
