Emily Simpson reacted to claims of acting hypocritically toward Katie Ginella in regard to their kids’ involvement on The Real Housewives of Orange County on Thursday’s Watch What Happens Live.

In addition to slamming Katie, 41, as “deceitful,” struggling to say three nice things about her, and reacting to her filming Shannon Beador, 61, amid a meltdown, Emily, 49, offered an update on her son, Luke, 12, and explained how she and Shane Simpson, 50, have avoided the reality curse. In addition, she responded to a fan who signaled how she mentioned Katie’s custody situation at the season 18 reunion, wondering how that was different from Katie mentioning her kids.

“To me, it’s a huge difference. I brought it up to her face at a reunion when we’re supposed to be opinionated, take accountability for things. And I had issues with her backstory. It wasn’t about her children. It was about her and things that she had told us, and I wanted her to clarify things,” Emily explained on the July 17 episode of WWHL. “And also, I did it publicly to her face. What she did was behind closed doors in the dark.”

During a game with host Andy Cohen, 57, Emily was asked to name three of the “most honest and genuine” things about Katie. And after a long pause, she said she had “good style.” She then said that the one thing she admires about Katie’s marriage to Matt Ginella is that “he seems to believe everything she says.”

As for what Katie has going for her that she doesn’t? “Nothing.”

In addition to being at odds with Emily, Katie is also feuding with Shannon, especially after filming her amid a meltdown without her knowledge.

“I was really shocked by it. I’ve seen many Shannon meltdowns … [and] I’ve never been compelled to get my phone out and record her without her knowledge. So learning that Katie did that, I was just like, it’s another chalk up there to this deceitful behavior,” Emily noted.

And despite Shannon being in the midst of drama with Tamra Judge, 57, Emily said she felt a reconciliation between Shannon and Tamra was more likely than one between Shannon and Katie.

Also of Shannon, Emily described her co-star’s taste in men as “litigious, litigious, litigious.”

Moving on to her family, Emily said her son Luke “is better.”

“A lot of the stresses in his life have been eliminated right now because it’s summer, so we’re not dealing with school, which was really difficult, and we’re not dealing with me filming, which was difficult,” she shared. “I worry about when he goes back to school, but Shane and I are doing the best we can, and Shane’s doing great with him.”

Speaking of Shane, Emily admitted that when it came to the reality TV curse, her marriage was “probably one of those exceptions to the rule.”

“Reality TV has made my relationship with Shane stronger. It really has,” she insisted. “I think that we navigate it well. I think that we’ve done a good job. I think we’ve grown closer, and it’s worked well for us.”

Also on the live broadcast, as she denied Jennifer Pedranti‘s claim of the cast being afraid of Tamra, saying she’s honest with Tamra, even when she disagrees with her, Emily reacted to Jennifer sliding into Gretchen Rossi‘s DMs for advice on how to deal with Tamra.

“[Gretchen]’s so vocal about how much she dislikes Tamra, so if anyone wants camaraderie with that, she’d be the person to reach out to. So I get it, but I also think it’s not the best way to start a friendship, [with] just this mutual hatred for the same person,” she noted.

Later, as she appeared on the WWHL: After Show, Emily confirmed she believed Gretchen, 46, when she denied having plastic surgery.

“I don’t think Gretchen is a liar like other people. I think that she’s pretty upfront about things. I think she would say if she did or not, because she would post and tag them,” she laughed.
