Emily Simpson recently opened up about the turmoil with Heather Dubrow and her disagreement with Gina Kirschenheiter during Thursday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
Coming on the heels of the newest episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, where tensions flared with Heather, 57, Emily took a moment to reflect on their ongoing rivalry. She also delved into Shannon Beador’s contentious room situation and discussed managing her son Luke’s challenges. Additionally, Emily shared insights on her regrets and provided commentary on newcomer Carmella Garcia, 44.
On the August 13 episode of WWHL, Emily openly admitted that Heather’s behavior had been irking her recently. Describing Heather’s conduct as typical, she explained, “That’s who she is.” Defending her reactions, Emily stated, “I react accordingly.”
She then said that she did not step out of line by snapping at Gina for interjecting herself into their conversation.
“I was not out of line … I don’t need her to chime in,” she explained.
Then, after more than 75 percent of the WWHL audience took her and Gina’s side amid their battle with Heather, Emily denied that they were simply picking at Heather, saying, “We just won the poll.”
Moving on to Shannon’s freakout about her room in Las Vegas, which Shannon insisted was due to a bad vibe from the elevator, Emily suspected that had nothing to do with it.
“Was it really the elevator, or was it cuz she didn’t get the room that she wanted? My takeaway was she was just mad about the room situation,” she noted. “I wasn’t in the room when it was going on, but it continued. You know Shannon. She doesn’t let it go. It continued out in the hallway and then in the sprinter van.”
While Heather alleged that several cast members were picky about their hotel rooms, Emily didn’t think that was the case.
“I don’t feel like anyone else is actually bothered by it. I think Heather is very good at — when she explains something, she’s very persuasive, so I think when she has the conversation with other people, she Jedi mind tricks them into thinking that they have a problem with it. But I don’t think really anyone does,” she stated.
When a viewer wanted to know the best advice she had for a parent dealing with a similar situation to Luke’s, who has been diagnosed with an eating disorder known as ARFID and another condition called PANDAS, which can cause swelling, Emily suggested therapy.
“He has lots of needs, but for me to be the best parent to him, I have to understand him, and I have to be able to parent him differently than my other children, and so I go to therapy so I can be the best parent for him,” she revealed.
Then, during a Q&A game about regrets, Emily said she didn’t regret calling Vicki a “Debbie downer,” being hard on Jennifer Pedranti, 49, about her finances, befriending Alexis Bellino, 49, or being open about her marriage struggles with Shane Simpson, 51.
As for what she did regret, Emily said it was a text meant for Shane that she accidentally sent to her in-law, which led them to stop speaking to her.
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Emily was asked if Vicki had a right to be suspicious of Carmella.
“I think Vicki has a right to feel suspicious about someone new and to question things, but I think that you have to, once you get your answers, you have to let it go,” she reasoned. “But that’s the thing about Vicki: She doesn’t let it go. And how they are today? I would say they are not friends.”
As for how she felt about Carmella joining the show, Emily confirmed she was approving of the addition.
“I like Carmella a lot … she’s a girls’ girl, and I really like that cuz I think that really works on a show with women because I feel like she really came in wanting to actually be friends and not just create drama,” she explained.
