Emma Willis, 47, took to Instagram this evening to share her and husband Matt Willis’ collective “nerves” over his no holds barred BBC documentary airing.
Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction explores the Busted singer’s battle with drugs and alcohol, and his fears around relapsing.
Emma shared an emotional preview clip from the film, featuring several moments where both she and her other half could be seen in tears as they reflected on the tumultuous times Matt’s addiction caused their family.
She captioned the post: “For the last 6 months Matt has been working on a documentary, which is airing on BBC1 tonight.
“It started out as a deep dive into the science around addiction and along the way became entwined with Matt’s own personal experience.

“It looks at addiction, but also at the affect it has on loved ones, on families. It looks at the way it affected us.”
The TV presenter continued: “Matt and I have always tried to keep ourselves as private as we can whilst working in a very public industry.
“So, as you can probably imagine, we’re incredibly nervous about this film going out into the world.
“Personally, it was tough to relive that period in our lives but it was also incredibly cathartic to talk through those dark days.
“As humans we’re all imperfect, and we shouldn’t feel like we have to hide certain parts of ourselves to be loved.”

Emma went on to share how she and Matt are still going strong as a couple, despite their past struggles.
She added: “Ultimately it was our love and hard graft that have got us to where we are now.
“Matt amazes me everyday with his resilience, strength and determination. He is everything to everyone around him and it astounds me that he cannot see what we all see in him.”
“In making this documentary he hopes that by understanding himself he can help others struggling do the same. He hopes he encourages people to reach out and talk about addiction more, that he can change the way help is offered.
“In the doc he shares a piece from his gratitude journal and reads three sentences he always includes: ‘I am not my thoughts. I am worthy of love. I am enough.’
“Matt, you’re more than enough and we love you,” Emma poignantly concluded.
It wasn’t long before Emma’s Instagram followers and friends inundated her and Matt with support, with presenter AJ Odudu commenting about the documentary: “Moving and beautifully done. Love you both.”
Kate Lawler added: “This is going to help so many others and their loved ones. Thank you for sharing such a raw and emotional part of your lives with us.”
Giovanna Fletcher, who is friends with both Matt and Emma, also replied: “Love you both so very much!!!! Xxxxx.”
