Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho has openly criticized Tiger Woods following the renowned golfer’s most recent arrest for driving under the influence.
“Tiger, you have too many obligations, too much wealth, too much wisdom, and too much experience to find yourself jailed for DUIs at this stage of your life and career in 2026,” expressed Acho, 35, on his Sunday, March 29 episode of the late-night sports talk show, Speakeasy.
The ex-linebacker emphasized that Woods, now 50, carries significant weight not just as a sports professional but as a cultural icon, noting that such reckless errors are unexpected from someone in his position.
“You have children, a family legacy, and you are an immensely influential and accomplished individual,” Acho stated. “And considering this isn’t your first incident, to me, it shows what happens when you overlook too many issues.”
He continued, “You’re putting everybody else at risk by driving under the influence. How many times are we going to see this happen? And I’m tired of making exceptions for famous celebrities.”
Woods was arrested on Friday, March 27, after he was involved in a rollover accident in Jupiter Island, Florida. The golfer was charged a DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test after he refused a urinalysis following a negative breathalyzer. (While Woods blew a triple zero, indicating he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, authorities believed he was under the influence of drugs.)

“Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer test, blew triple zeros, but when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused,” Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said in a press conference, adding that “Woods did exemplify signs of impairment.”
Budensiek further alleged that Woods drove his Land Rover at an accelerated speed and ended up clipping the other vehicle — a pickup truck pulling a small trailer — resulting in his car being flipped on its side. Woods was able to “crawl out of the passenger door of the car” after the accident. Us Weekly has reached out to Woods for comment.
Woods’ straight-faced mugshot was released on March 28 by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Just days before the incident, Woods competed for the first time in more than a year as part of the Jupiter Links Golf Club.
The crash marks the golfer’s fourth auto-related incident — the second in which he was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Woods was previously arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in 2017, but was released on his own recognizance. He later issued a public apology after pleading guilty to reckless driving.
