Emmerdale's Amelia Spencer star shows off drastic hair ‘transformation’ after soap axe

Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell surprised fans by taking to social media with a completely new look. The actress looked worlds away from her familiar self, which viewers grew to know and love throughout her 13-year tenure on the long-running ITV soap.

The actress left the soap in December last year in a shocking twist to her character’s storyline, who first moved onto Weatherfield in 2011 at just seven years old.

In her final emotional scene, Daisy’s character decides to leave the Yorkshire village after her on-screen father, Daz Spencer (Mark Jordan) made his return after five years away. Despite Amelia not seemingly being in contact with him, she and Daz revealed they’d actually remained in touch and had gotten closer and planned to move away with her daughter Esther, to live with Daz.

Following her exit, the actress told The Mirror: “I’m not only grieving for myself, it’s a character that I’ve always played. This is my first ever job from being seven, so it felt really sad. But then it was nice to close the door and be at peace, because I’ve just allowed it to play out as it has this year”

Embracing her newfound freedom, Daisy gave fans an insight into what she’s been up to since her departure. Taking to Instagram, the 21-year-old shared a new carousel of snapshots of key moments among her friends. She captioned it: “Pink hair, sonny angels, best friends, food, wig drunkenness,” swapping her blonde tresses for a bright pink wig with a full fringe. Campbell also stunned on a girl’s night out as she posed with two pals who also sported the brown version of the fun wig.

Among the photos was also a mirror selfie, seemingly before the night out, which showed the wig in all its glory. Fans took to the comments in droves to praise her new look. One stated, ” I love the hair,” and another agreed, “Pretty in pink.” A third shared: “Stunningly beautiful young lad,” while one follower said: “You are absolutely gorgeous.”

It follows a previous social media post where Daisy teased her new project, stating: “I feel so privileged to have been approached to play the lead role of Lacey in Storm. Especially because this original drama will raise awareness of something so serious and harrowing for the survivors who have experienced it, and that is historical abuse”.

“The script was first written over four years ago and, whilst it’s entirely fictional, the fact is that what happens to Lacey in Storm really does happen to innocent people in real life, so this is a story that needs to be told and I am privileged to have been chosen to tell it on behalf of all survivors everywhere.

“So I am taking my responsibility as the face of this new drama incredibly seriously. So much so, myself and the team at Rocking Horse Media have already met with some brave survivors of historical abuse. I haven’t experienced anything like what Lacey has in my own life but I have been so inspired by our survivors and their stories and I will be meeting more survivors with lived experiences soon.”
