Renowned BBC broadcaster Gabby Logan, despite her extensive three-decade-long career in television, confesses that certain moments still deeply move her to tears. At 52, Logan has become a familiar face on the screen, establishing her reputation through her prominent role in covering major sports events such as the FIFA World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Great North Run, and the UEFA Euros.
In addition to her impressive sports broadcasting credentials, the Match of the Day presenter, recently mourning the loss of her father, Terry Yorath, is a devoted mother to her 20-year-old twins, Lois and Reuben, whom she shares with her husband, Kenny. The former gymnast recently shared what continues to fuel her passion for her craft, following her win of the Sports Presenter, Commentator, or Pundit award at the Royal Television Society Awards on Tuesday, March 24.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Logan opened up about the experience of working on the iconic sports program, Match of the Day. “Telling the stories of some of the amazing sports people continues to inspire me,” she revealed.
Logan admitted, “Despite 30 years in the business, I still find myself moved to tears by these performances, and I hope that the audience at home shares in the emotion I feel about the incredible individuals we highlight.”
Her passion for the industry remains undiminished, particularly with the rise of women’s sports. “Witnessing the achievements of women in the Euros, the World Cup, and Rugby has been truly inspiring,” she said warmly. “This summer was spectacular.”
But the presenter wasn’t afraid to discuss some of the harder parts of the job that come with working in the public eye. She admitted: “I’ve been doing it for so long now that I just get to get on with my job, but I guess sometimes you have to be very aware of what you do.
“Working for the BBC is a very important institution, but I don’t think I change myself behaviour massively. I just try and be as authentic as possible.”
For the lavish red carpet event, the doting mum rocked a glamorous green Victoria Beckham dress which the fansionista rocked at Holly Ramsay’s wedding to Adam Peaty in December.
Before taking her seat in the ballroom for dinner, the TV star showed her support for the former Spice Girls star as she gushed about Victoria’s fashion line.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, she chuckled: “I do well with her [Victoria’s] dresses fr some reason, and they always seem to work well for me. I probably should give her a call because I think I’ve got quite a few of them!”
