Lauren Sánchez lost 3.5 pounds getting ready for her wedding to billionaire Jeff Bezos.

While speaking with Vogue ahead of the big day, Sánchez, 55, revealed that she adapted her diet by avoiding alcohol for a few weeks and cutting down on salt.

“I like food. Food is such a big part of life,” she said. “I’m Latin!”

Sánchez also worked out daily, noting that even the minor slimdown was a lot for her due to her petite frame.

“Some people meditate, I work out. It’s something Jeff and I do every morning,” she told Vogue of the Amazon founder, 61. “We have our coffee, we talk about whatever’s going on, and then we go to the gym.”

Sánchez and Bezos, who have been together since 2019, got married on Friday, June 27, in an intimate ceremony held in Venice, Italy. The couple wore custom Dolce & Gabbana, and Sánchez’s gown was inspired by Sophia Loren’s wedding wardrobe from the 1958 movie Houseboat.

“It went from ‘I want a simple, sexy modern dress’ to ‘I want something that evokes a moment,’ and where I am right now. I am a different person than I was five years ago,” Sánchez said of deciding on a long-sleeve lace gown with 180 silk buttons adorning the bodice. “I went into a lot of therapy and it’s changed me in a bunch of ways. But it’s really Jeff. Jeff hasn’t changed me. Jeff has revealed me.”

She added, “I feel safe. I feel seen. He lets me be me. Sophia Loren [was] unapologetically free, [and] he lets me be unapologetically free.”

Sánchez had been researching dress ideas before the D&G team got to work making the final product.

“I researched pictures of brides in the 1950s,” she told Vogue. “I wanted to reflect back, and I saw Sophia Loren and her hands were [in a prayer position] and she was in high lace, up to the neck, and I said, ‘That’s it. That’s the dress.’”

The TV journalist added, “It is a departure from what people expect [and] from what I expect — but it’s very much me.”

When Sánchez first saw her wedding gown, she recalled to Vogue that she felt “like a princess.” Bezos, meanwhile, only got to see the dress when she walked down the aisle.

“I think he will be pleasantly surprised,” Sánchez theorized to the magazine during her fitting. “I think he’s going to be so happy. I mean, it’s so elegant, it’s timeless.”
