Charlie Stayt, a well-known journalist and TV presenter, is best recognised for his role on BBC Breakfast. His career began at a commercial radio station in his hometown of Gloucester before moving to several London-based stations, including Capital Radio, LBC and BBC Radio 5 Live. In 1995, Charlie joined ITN and later Five News as a reporter, spending a total of 10 years at ITN in various roles. He became part of the BBC Breakfast team in 2006 as a relief presenter, but by December 2007, it was confirmed that he would be the Friday to Sunday presenter.

Since January 2008, he has been the weekend presenter for BBC Breakfast, now presenting the show from Thursday to Saturday alongside Naga Munchetty. Off-screen, Charlie leads a quiet, private life, rarely sharing personal details on social media. So, what do we know about his life away from the BBC Breakfast sofa?

He has been married to Anne Breckell for over 30 years, and they have two grown-up children – Phoebe and Jake. The family of four reportedly lives in Twickenham, a desirable area of London known for its beautiful period properties and grand mansions, just 10 miles away from Charing Cross and home to the Rugby Football Union and Twickenham Stadium.

The area itself is known for its beautiful period properties and grand period mansions which include York House, Marble Hill, and, Strawberry Hill House.

According to Rightmove, House prices in Twickenham have an overall average of £779,350 over the last year. They claim that the majority of properties sold in Twickenham during the last year were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £856,618.

It has been reported that Charlie and his family live in a £2.3million property in the suburb.

Not much is known about Charlie’s private life, and although he has some social media accounts, he hardly ever posts.

His wife has been described as an actor by some news outlets and appears to have a handful of TV and theatre credits.

In the BBC’s pay report for 2023-4, Charlie’s salary was reported to be between £190,000 – £194,999 for his work presenting BBC Breakfast.
