2025 has only just begun, but the year has already been filled with tragic celebrity deaths. One of the year’s earliest losses in Hollywood was Aubrey Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena, who died by suicide at 47 years old on January 3, TMZ reported.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Aubrey said in a statement alongside Jeff’s family on January 6. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

The deaths of musician Peter Yarrow and former CBS News journalist Richard Cohen were announced on January 7. Peter was 86, while Richard was 76.

Former Australian child star Rory Sykes died at just 32 years old in the California wildfires, his mom announced on January 9.

General Hospital star Leslie Charleson’s death at 79 years old was confirmed by the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, on January 12.
