Easily one of the best reality shows ever, Survivor attracts new fans every year who have to figure out which seasons to watch first. Jeff Probst’s beloved show also has longtime fans who have strong opinions about which players are the best, how to rank the show’s winners, and which seasons are the most entertaining. Unsurprisingly, many of those dedicated fans also know many Survivor facts, like which former players refused to return and who was the first person to be medically evacuated.
No matter how much longtime fans think they know about Survivor, some facts about the show have been kept secret. One perfect example of that is the fact that Survivor and Love Island USA have a secret connection.
Love Island USA’s Ariana Madix Revealed How Survivor Is Affected By Her Show
From the time that Survivor premiered, the show has changed in many ways. For example, seasons are now filmed in 26 days instead of 39, many advantages and twists were introduced, the number of tribes and finalists expanded from two to three, and so much more.
However, there have been some aspects of Survivor that have never changed from when the first episode of the show was filmed. One of those things that hasn’t changed since the beginning is something that most fans take for granted.
From the moment that the game begins, Survivor players have always supposed to have been cut off from the outside world. With that in mind, it is completely shocking to learn that Survivor players have been affected by Love Island USA during the game.
In May 2025, a reality show fan made a post on TikTok that they didn’t know would become so newsworthy.
Who Has Hosted Or Narrated Love Island USA?
- Arielle Vandenberg (Host)
- Sarah Hyland (Host)
- Ariana Madix (Host)
- Matthew Hoffman (Narrator)
- Iain Stirling (Narrator)
The video showed a person looking like their mind had just been blown. Most importantly, the video had text on the screen arguing that Survivor and Love Island USA should have a crossover because both shows will have upcoming seasons filmed in Fiji at the same time.
“Wait a minute. How big is Fiji? I just realized the same time survivor is being filmed, so will Love Island USA. I want to see a crossover. What if ponderosa is actually the love island villa and survivor players showed up as bombshells. And then LI contestants came in at the merge and had to compete in the survivor challenges”
While that fan’s post was hilarious to envision, it would lead to a truly stunning revelation.
Amazingly enough, the fan’s TikTok post about Survivor and Love Island USA being filmed in Fiji garnered the attention of someone remarkable. The host of Love Island USA, Ariana Madix, commented on the post.
In July 2024, Love Island USA host Ariana Madix told The Associated Press about how much she loved hosting the hit reality show. “I love it. I think that there’s some things that are so interesting about this show in comparison to other reality shows where there are cameras everywhere. These are fly-on-the-wall cameras and there’s no person walking around with a camera on their shoulder, which is what you would be used to with, say, like a Real Housewives or Vanderpump or something like that. I enjoy how unpredictable it is. It does not feel like work at all.
Ariana revealed that a former Survivor player told her they could hear and see hints of Love Island USA while they were competing on Jeff Probst’s show.
”a former survivor contestant told me they could hear the villa from their island sometimes and see the lights off in the distance.”
While it may seem surprising that Survivor players could see and hear the events of Love Island USA, it actually makes a lot of sense.

Since so many people live in cities that have lights and sounds even at night, there is always something overwhelming their senses. However, as a part of Ariana’s comment on the TikTok video, she pointed out that Survivor players don’t have any lights or background noises to deal with. Ariana explained that it is the extreme dark that allows Survivor players to see Love Island USA’s villa.
“there’s like no light pollution here so any light really travels lol”
Of course, since Ariana has never played Survivor, there is no way that she could personally attest that players can see Love Island USA’s villa from afar.
For that reason, it is important to note that a former Survivor player chimed in with their own claim about Survivor and Love Island USA having a fascinating connection.
A Survivor Player Revealed Another Crossover With Love Island USA
In the comment section of the same TikTok video, Survivor 45’s Janani “J. Maya” Jha also commented. In her post, J. Maya revealed that there is another Love Island USA and Survivor crossover that is much more interesting.
As fascinating as it is to learn about, Survivor players getting to see some light and hear some sounds from Love Island USA isn’t that exciting.
After all, Survivor players wouldn’t be able to make out anything that is going on in Love Island USA’s villa from afar. However, it turns out that there was a more concrete crossover that means that Survivor players have gotten to walk in the shoes of the Love Island USA stars.
In her TikTok comment, J. Maya revealed that after being eliminated, Survivor 45’s players got to stay in Love Island USA’s villa.
“Fun fact: our ponderosa for s45 was the same hotel that love island USA filmed in :)”
It is amazing to think of Survivor 45’s cast hanging out in the Love Island USA villa.
