The civilian version had viewers gripped, and it appears the celebrity edition of The Traitors is set to be equally captivating for TV audiences.
The fresh series, which represents the inaugural celebrity version of the popular game show, debuted on BBC One on Wednesday (8 October), drawing in a remarkable 6.1 million live viewers, with countless fans flocking to social media to heap praise on the programme.
Shot earlier this year at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, Celebrity Traitors features 19 famous faces tackling the gruelling game, with household names including Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Church all taking part.
The opening episode witnessed host Claudia Winkleman unveiling the initial trio of Traitors, as she handpicked Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns.
Nevertheless, devotees of the programme believe Jonathan has already sabotaged his prospects of progressing far in the competition before it has truly commenced, owing to one glaring error he committed, reports the Daily Record.
The three selected celebrities were tasked with eliminating someone in full view of others. Yet, whilst chatting with Joe Marler, Jonathan seemed to overlook that he possesses a shield, which captured Joe’s attention.
Supporters are certain Jonathan has betrayed his secret by neglecting his shield, though they must await tonight’s (9 October) episode to discover whether Joe exposes everything.
Across social media, numerous viewers highlighted the gaffe. One enthusiast posted on X: “Can we talk about how Jonathan Ross just gave the game away by FORGETTING he has a shield #CelebrityTraitors.”
“Joe Marler 100% clocked this from Jonathan Ross and will bring up how suspicious it is that a ‘faithful’ would forget that they had shield, right? #CelebrityTraitors,” one viewer predicted, while another noted: “Jonathan forgot he had a shield #CelebrityTraitors.”
Many fans were thrilled to see Jonathan and Alan chosen as Traitors, with the duo proving to be a comedic double act.
“Nah celebrity traitors is actually so funny, Alan Carr is making me laugh so much and Jonathan Ross as a traitor as well, absolute genius, oh I am so looking forward to this season #CelebrityTraitors,” one fan gushed.
Another concurred, posting: “#CelebrityTraitors Alan Carr is terrific value for money..he’s just so honest, and yet you can’t help but laugh. Jonathan is also great…very clever. I don’t know the third traitor at all but she seems pretty smart..great group!!”
Celebrity Traitors airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays on BBC One at 9pm.
