The former professional footballer turned presenter and pundit was inundated with condolence messages as he announced his dad had sadly died. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the BBC host, 56, penned an emotional message to his late father. He accompanied the heartbreaking post with a photo alongside his dad with the pair beaming at the camera as they both held beverages.

In a candid message Dion penned: “A fearless heart, our guiding light, A leader strong, both day and night. With bass in hand and Vodka near. Your love and strength remain so clear! Gone, but NEVER forgotten!”

He concluded: “Rest In Peace Dad!”
