Wynne Evans has revealed his departure from his BBC Radio Wales program after the network chose not to extend his contract last year. This decision followed the opera singer’s removal from the Strictly Come Dancing live tour due to a comment deemed “inappropriate and unacceptable” during the December launch. The BBC has confirmed that there are “currently no plans to work with him” moving forward.
At 54, Evans has shared insights into his upcoming plans, mentioning a significant life change. The Go Compare singer disclosed that he intends to vacate his primary residence over the next half-year. The former radio host has expressed his desire to explore new horizons alongside his cherished dog, Ginny.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story video, the former Strictly participant admitted, “I don’t know where I’m going to be living.”
Evans elaborated, “I’ve decided to rent out my house for six months. I felt like doing something different. Just wanted a change. So, Ginny and I,” he said while showing his dog, “are hitting the open road.”
“We have a few things planned—some holidays we’ve already booked, so we’ll be heading to those destinations.”
He continued: “But yeah… come with us. I don’t know where we’re going to end up living. Going to stay in Cardiff for a bit.
“I know in the next six months I’ve got a new job starting. In fact, I’ve got two new jobs. It’s going to be a crazy, crazy time. Probably not the wisest time to move out of your house but let’s do it.”
Wynne is best known as the face, and voice, behind the Go Compare adverts, and also has had two number one classical music albums.
As well as BBC Radio Wales, he has previously presented on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, while also winning Celebrity Masterchef.
