Following the heartbreaking death of her boyfriend, Liam Payne, in Argentina last year, Kate Cassidy’s behavior raised alarms among those close to her.
“For months, I never saw her smile, despite spending time with her every day,” a close friend of the influencer revealed to the Daily Mail on Sunday.
“It was deeply concerning. She didn’t seem like herself at all. She withdrew from social activities, often canceling plans, and became almost reclusive,” the friend continued.
However, the friend now reports that Cassidy is showing signs of recovery. “She’s starting to spend time with friends again and is even considering the idea of dating, though she’s not quite ready to take that step,” shared the insider.
“At one point, her situation was quite worrying, but she’s making progress now,” the source added. “She’s focusing on moving forward, knowing that’s what Liam would have wanted for her.”
The friend also claimed that the 26-year-old is brushing off CasaSur Palermo Hotel server Braian Nahuel Paiz’s claims that he spent an intimate night with the One Direction alum and supplied him with drugs the day before he plummeted to his death from the hotel balcony.
“Kate doesn’t pay any attention to them,” the pal said about the allegations. “She knows what she and Liam had, and that it was very, very good. Whatever happened that day doesn’t change the love and respect of her relationship with Liam.”
Cassidy left Argentina two days before Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024. He was 31.
The “What Makes You Beautiful” singer reportedly begged Cassidy to extend her stay, and eyewitnesses claimed he began acting out in an “erratic” manner after she departed.
An autopsy revealed that drugs were found in the “Night Changes” crooner’s system, and several people, including Paiz, are facing charges for allegedly supplying him with the substances.
Cassidy spoke out shortly after Payne died, writing via Instagram, “Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.
“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”
She has since gotten candid about her and Payne’s last memories as a couple, including the wedding they attended together in France the September before he died.
Cassidy also honored what would’ve been the “X Factor” alum’s 32nd birthday in August by sharing a video of herself baking a cake.
The following month, she reconnected with Payne by creating AI images of them dressed up.
