Wedding bells will soon be in the air for a Golden Bachelor alum. The lead of the first season, Gerry Turner, just announced his engagement this past week after popping the question to girlfriend Lana Turner. Gerry’s news surprised the internet, as their engagement came just 15 months after his official divorce from Teresa Nist.

Those who followed the first season of the reality TV show will recall that Gerry proposed to Teresa after awarding her the final rose. Though things didn’t work out between the pair, Gerry took to social media to share the good news with his new partner, reflecting on how compatible they are together.

Gerry Posted Engagement Photos On Instagram

Last week, Gerry took to his personal Instagram page to reveal that he’d proposed to Lana. The two have been together since March, and Gerry previously reported to news outlets that one of the many things he liked best about his then-girlfriend was her sense of adventure.

Gerry posted three selfies with Lana, who can be seen wearing her new diamond ring. In the fourth photo he shared, she sips from a drink, the ring visible as she holds the straw. In the caption, Gerry noted his excitement about taking the next step with Lana:

It seems like the proposal came as a surprise to even Lana herself. Just a couple weeks ago, she was obliviously posting about another trip the two had taken, sharing photos of them in Canada on her own Instagram page. “Had a wonderful trip to Niagara Falls on the Canada side! Loved every moment with @goldengerryturner ! Oh Canada 🇨🇦” she captioned one of her posts.

Fans Are Supportive Of The Couple

In the comments of Gerry’s posts, loyal followers showered the newly engaged couple with praise. “They kinda resemble each other! That’s how you know it’s a match!🥰🤣” wrote one user. “She’s beautiful! And you deserve happiness. I wish you both nothing but happiness together,” added another. Even Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos chimed in, writing, “Congrats to this beautiful couple! Love that you found each other and making a life together. 💕💕💕💕💕”

Those who have been following Gerry’s story will know that he has been quietly been dealing with a medical issue in his personal life. As he revealed to People last year, he has an incurable form of bone cancer, though it is slow-growing, and he explained that he has the situation under control.

“Until I have any symptoms, there’s no treatment. So I go frequently for blood tests. I’m on, like, a six-month schedule now, and I feel optimistic because the doctor has said, ‘Well, when you turn 75, we’re going to have to go three-month increments,'” he noted. “So it’s telling me that at least he expects me to live another couple of years to get to that. But the bottom line is I feel really good,” he added.

No doubt his new engagement will be a part of his good mood. Until then, it seems like he and Lana are making the most of packing in whatever travel and other adventures they can. As of this article’s writing, Gerry and Lana have not detailed what their wedding plans will be—nor is it clear whether Gerry and his ex Teresa remain in touch.

For her part, Teresa has said little about their split, nor the fact that Gerry got engaged so quickly after their divorce was finalized. At most, she has simply said that the limited timeframe of The Golden Bachelor didn’t actually allow them to get to know one another in the way they needed for the marriage to succeed.

“You really can’t know somebody in four weeks. I’ll just say that,” she hinted. “I don’t wanna say any more than that​​​​​​​.”
