Gregg Wallace mocked after axed BBC star shares latest health post

Gregg Wallace, the former host of MasterChef, is facing criticism once again, this time for sharing a “healthy” breakfast recipe that hasn’t gone down well with fans. At 60 years old, Wallace, who was removed from MasterChef last year amid allegations of inappropriate behavior, posted a video on his wellness account, @greggwallace.health. The clip features him preparing a breakfast sandwich by frying heck sausages and an egg, then layering them with tomatoes and spinach on an English muffin, captioned: “Breakfast with @greggwallace.health.”

The simplicity of the dish sparked derision from many viewers. One commenter questioned Wallace’s culinary credentials, saying, “I’m sorry, how were you on MasterChef? This is just so basic.” Another mocked, “Next episode: how to boil water.” Despite the negative feedback, some followers defended Wallace, emphasizing his focus on promoting healthy living rather than gourmet cooking. One supporter pointed out, “Gregg has never claimed to be a Michelin chef. This page is about his healthy eating program, not fine dining or complex cookery.”

Fans who appreciate Wallace’s straightforward approach highlighted the intention behind his content. “The whole point is simple recipes everyone can follow as part of adopting a sustainable, healthy diet,” one user explained.

Another added, “I’m not even Gregg’s biggest fan, but your comment was unnecessarily simplistic and unkind.”

This latest post is part of Wallace’s effort to rebrand himself as a wellness coach following his departure from MasterChef.

He recently launched a new website, GreggWallace.Health, offering personal coaching packages for £200 a month to help clients “feel better, look better, and have more confidence.”

In a promotional Instagram video, Gregg said: “You do not have to accept decline as a part of getting older. You can do something about this. You can be leaner, fitter, healthier, [and] have more energy.”

He went on: “I went on my own wellness journey, and I am healthier at 60 than I was at 30. I coach people over 50. I help them feel better and look better and have more confidence.”

The former BBC presenter, who famously lost five stone three years ago, told followers they could access “hundreds and hundreds of really healthy meals that only take minutes to make” through his site.

“We’ve been doing this now for nearly five years,” he added. “Working with nutritionists to produce really good, easy, really easy, healthy meals.”

Gregg’s latest social media venture follows a turbulent year for the TV star. Production company Banijay UK, which makes MasterChef, is still probing allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour levelled against him during his tenure.

After stepping down from the show in November, Gregg told the Daily Mail he had been left devastated by the accusations, claiming: “Nobody from the BBC contacted me once these stories started breaking – absolutely nobody at all.”

He also admitted the ordeal pushed him to the brink, revealing: “I thought about suicide all the time.”
